The civil rights groups that turned outrage over Trayvon Martin's death into action say their work is far from over now that his killer has been charged with second-degree murder. Next, they hope to harness the activism to challenge Florida's "stand your ground" law and similar statutes in 24 other states.
But they also worry about maintaining their momentum during what could be a long judicial process and translating it into political action that could help sway lawmakers. The leaders plan to use churches, social media and other means to rally the movement that has already prompted protesters to take to the streets in several major cities.

Stand your ground laws are not “gun laws”. They are self defense laws, whether you use a gun, knife, baseball bat, or your fists. Of course they can’t openly say they are against self defense, even though that’s precisely what they hate.
As the saying always goes, COME AND GET THEM!

No, not really. “The right of the people to keep and bear arms” is an unbroken block, and cannot mean anything other than that the group referred everwhere else in the Constitution as “the people” have the right to keep and bear arms. I don’t care if the rest of the amendment talks about how icky guns are and how weird are people who own them. So long as it says the people have the right to keep and bear arms, it means the people have the right to keep and bear arms. No amount of legerdemain can overcome it.

Why is it that those of us who support Liberty and freedom can’t use cases when a life was saved with a gun?

A lot of what passes for Ben Franklin and Abe Lincoln quotes are questionable, at best. Even if he never said it though, it’s the truth. No society in the history of mankind was or is anywhere near as well armed, not even the Swiss.
So the “Civil Rights”(read blacks and their leftist masters) activists are frightened that whites are armed and can legally stand their ground. The idiots are advocating disarming whites while the number of black on white assaults are increasing.

What I’ve read is that, while he probably didn’t actually say the quote, the sentiment it reflects was well in place...at least within the Imperial Navy. (The Army may have been another matter, given some of the puffed-up, overreaching “geniuses” they fielded, like Mutaguchi, Hatachi and the infamous Masanobu Tsuji.)
If only they could use that same energy to teach their kids that beating the sh1t out of someone, even if they’ve upset you, isn’t the right and civil thing to do, and that it may get you killed when the person defends their life.
It never fails they never look at themselves and how they are not raising their kids right. Their kids kill other black kids and there’s no peep out of them as a community to get their kids in line. Nowadays when fights break out among blacks at high schools they call their parents, and the parents come down to the school - often armed with something - and start in in the fight, too.
Containment while they self-destruct as a race. That is what it boils down to. And you can thank liberals for it with their non-father-in-the-home and paid-to-be-a-baby-machine welfare policies.

Any authorization to practice the 2nd Amendment is bad for them. They want us to disarm, but you can bet they would not. The bare-faced animosity towards guns and Whites makes it so we would be nuts to disarm even if the 'edict" comes down the pipes. Not only un-Constitutional, but it would llow them to target us at will. It's amazing how the race-baiters have set us back 100 years and are making it so the average White now needs to do exactly what they bitch about - profile.

Some years ago, NYC would send some of their homeless to a shelter in Chester, NY about 60 mi away. This town had a rash of burglaries, muggings, assaults, etc. That is until one of the town council members addressed this problem in the local paper. To this day, I don’t know if it was extreme cluelessness or shrewdness, this councilman stated that he was “shocked and concerned” about the sudden increase in concealed carry apps being submitted to the Orange Cty Sherrif’s office. Almost overnight, the crime rate in Chester plummeted and NYC eventually shut down that shelter. I wonder why?
This would be hilarious if it weren’t real. Let me guess. There will be a federal challenge based on the Civil Rights Act, or some other convoluted scheme to completely frustrate the will of the people of the state that enacted the law, and the fundamental right to defend oneself from a lethal attack.
If the stand your ground law is repealed here, then it’s time for the shoot shovel and shut up policy to be implemented.

That's why I have 4,000+ rounds of .22 LR, a thousand or so of 5.56, maybe 500 or so 7.62NATO. Could use some more shotgun shells. Both serious social purposes type and birdshot. Birds are good to eat you know. Birds like those rats with feathers we used to call Canada Geese. :) Of course I have reloading gear for shotgun shells, so I should buy some powder and appropriate size shot, plus wads.

Not a direct quote from Yamamoto, but an account of the feelings of the Japanese Navy of WW-II.
I have a lot of respect for Ayoob, but he doesn't claim the quote is correct, or offer any evidence. He only argues that they would have been concerned. For a direct quote you should be able to say when and where someone said it. The only attribution I've heard was that he allegedly said it to a notrhestern newspaper when he was in the USA. There is no record of what paper, or date. Yamamoto was in the US fisrt as a junior officer studying at Harvard in the 20's and later as a military attache for the Japanese embassy. It's unlikely that he would have been interviewed by a US paper in either position, or made such a statement. In his letters to contemporaries he makes it clear that his prime concern was America's overwhelming industrial might which he had seen first hand, and which dwarfed the Japaniese. From a logical point of view, those millions of crack shot Americans could (and were) be drafted and sent anywhere, so it would scarcely matter whether they shot Japanese here or in the South Pacific.
