Romney's wife gave money to Planned Parenthood (2007 article)
ABC News ^ | 5/9/2007 | Rick Klein

Former Gov. Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, gave an $150 donation to the abortion-rights group Planned Parenthood in 1994, at a time when Romney considered himself effectively "pro-choice," the Romney campaign confirmed today. Campaign spokesman Kevin Madden said Ann Romney had no recollection of the circumstances under which she donated the money. He said an internal review of Romney's personal records has not turned up any instances in which Romney, a Massachusetts Republican, himself sent money to groups that supported expanded abortion rights. "The governor has not donated to Planned Parenthood or abortion-rights groups," Madden said. Madden said he did not know whether the former governor was aware of the donation, but he noted that Romney had been publicly committed to upholding a woman's right to an abortion until late 2004. "This is an issue that the governor has changed his position on, that the governor was wrong on in the past and believes he is right on now," he said.

AS the “conservative” Coulter endorses Mitt Romney and I am sure will defend his wife Anne until her adam’s apple pops it makes me wonder how conservative women can forgive a PRO ABORTION BABY KILLER SUPPORTER but not a man that has been divorced aka Newt. How does Fox news judge which sins are forgiven and which are not?
The Romney's are finally having their dirty laundry aired

So we’re going to join Democrats making candidates’ wives the issue now?

Fer crying out loud.

The Dems just stepped in the biggest, baddest pile of dog poop of the year so far - let them wallow in it - it is really fun to watch (and probably making a real political difference).

If it’s bad for Dems, don’t interrupt them please.

Why bring up this 5-yr old story to bash Ann Romney? The targets are Hilary Rosen, Obama and the Democrats. Get it?

No we deal with a known product. Do not be the turtle that happily gives a scorpion a ride across the river, unless you expect to be stung.

I KNOW there is no such thing as a pro choice Christian, but it seems a pro choice Mormon is the norm.

What are the specifics of Ann’s donation in the 90’s? Given how the Breast Cancer group is in bed with Planned Parenthood, was she giving through the Breast Cancer foundation or directly to PP? I believe she had breast cancer, not sure if it was at the same time as the donation.

Sure, but let’s not bash the Scorpion’s wife.

Ain’t her fault she fell for the guy.

We should try to empathize. Can’t be easy.

Would you an answer to be true given the past record of the man running to fill the shoes of Lincoln and Reagan?

And the Romney’s pretenting to be for marriage between a man and woman. Listen to this clip where Willard the liberal puts single men, single women and homosexual “couples” on the same level discussing adoption. He sees nothing wrong with two
sodomites adopting a child. Sure his wife feels the same way.
One thing is damn certain, no matter who wins in November, a liberal will be the next president.

I’m not sure of the specifics of the $150 donation to PP, but given they gave $15k to Massachusetts Citizens for Life, the group honoring him, in 2005, I’m very interested in why the $150 donation happened and why.

I am tired of all these women supposedly married to conservative men being liberal. Barbara Bush and Laura are not conservative either. You don’t hear about that until years later.

Please can we have some people who do not lie.

Abortion isn’t really so bad. If a baby is terminated, the soul form the planet Kolob will simple pick another body to inhabit. No problem.

“And the Romneys pretend to be pro-life.”

Beck has stated that Romney worked hard within his church to discourage abortions, that he is ‘personally’ against them. Meanwhile he and apparently his wife have gone above and beyond to facilitate and mainstream abortions.

I don’t think he is hypocritical. I think it is a touch of Margaret Sanger alloyed with his religion. Discourage with all your heart abortions among “Latter Day Saints”, but defend, promulgate, and fund abortions and sterile copulatory arrangements amongst the “gentiles”.
