Gingrich Unloads on Fox News in Private Meeting
Real Politics ^ | 4-11-12 | Conroy

- During a meeting with 18 Delaware Tea Party leaders here on Wednesday, Newt Gingrich lambasted The Fox News Channel, accusing the cable news network that employed him as recently as last year of having been in the tank for Mitt Romney from the beginning of the Republican presidential fight and singling out former colleagues for attacking him out of what he characterized as personal jealousy.

“I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through,” Gingrich said during the private meeting at Wesley College to which RealClearPolitics was granted access. “In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of Fox. That’s just a fact.”

Gingrich’s contract as a Fox News contributor was terminated last spring, as he was gearing up for his White House run.

The former House Speaker’s blunt remarks about Fox came in response to a question from one of the Delaware Tea Party leaders about the manner in which his campaign has been treated by conservative media outlets.

Gingrich did not pull his punches in accusing Rupert Murdoch -- the chairman and CEO of the News Corporation, Fox News’ parent company -- of pushing for Romney behind the scenes.

“I assume it’s because Murdoch at some point said, ‘I want Romney,’ and so ‘fair and balanced’ became ‘Romney,’” Gingrich said. “And there’s no question that Fox had a lot to do with stopping my campaign because such a high percentage of our base watches Fox.”

Gingrich saved his most personal condemnation for George Will, a conservative columnist and frequent television commentator, who has been critical ...(read more)

Oh heck, I’m not worn out. -:) Now come on Rita, take down that “dps” troll, who obviously wasn’t schooled by his/her parents to respect those who have done the country a service.

Cry me a bucket Newt, cry me a bucket...

He is the last conservative in the race, fighting against Wilard and Zero, and this is all you are going to say? Get in the game, or move on.

I happen to agree with Newt about Fox. Up until the 2010 elections, I had that channel playing throughout my waking hours as background noise unless I was paying close attention to a topic of interest. Since then, I rarely have a television turned on at all.

As a matter of fact, rather than tune in to Fox for 6pm press conference announcement of specific charges against Zimmerman, I intentionally tuned my TV to CNN (something I've never done intentionally before).

Shame on Fox. Glad to see Gingrich is still up and in their face till the convention.

I wonder if Newt could pull ahead of the inevitable candidate by pulling a last minute 'Hail Mary'. . . by picking Lt. Col. Allen West as a running mate on the eve of the convention?

What happens if I do not meet the mandate?

If you don’t have health insurance by Dec. 31, 2007, you will lose your personal income tax exemption for 2007. That exemption gives you a Massachusetts tax savings of approximately $219.

In 2008, the cost of the penalty goes up. The fine will equal half of the cost of the lowest-priced Health Connector-certified plan for each month that you don’t have coverage

Waivers will be available for those who cannot afford a plan that meets the rules. Check back for updates.

How is the mandate enforced?

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue will enforce the individual mandate through the tax process

This article shows what I saw about Newt last week here in Delaware.

He loves Tea Party folks, and spends as much time with them as he can.HE is very gracious, and enjoys the questions and comments from folks, and he is not shy about proposing ideas or defending his positions.

I was one of those 2500 people he mentions at the end of the article.

Folks, he is the last conservative standing. Statrting in little Delaware, he can change the race. To do that he needs your vote if you have not voted yet in the remaining primary states, and he needs your money.

Otherwise prepare to receive Willard, The Anointed.

And prepare for four more years of Obama.

If you give a hoot, you know it’s Newt.

I would really be shocked if that was a true “gotcha” type question. In reality I think King asked on purpose to give Newt a slam dunk and allow him to attack.

Yeah, you make a good point - the two of them certainly didn't seem to be upset with one another after the debate. Either way, it was fun to watch.

I’ve just watched on CSpan Newt Gingrich’s speech at Wesley College in Dover, DE. It was fabulous. He also answered the students’ questions.

Newt is the only candidate who makes sense. I cannot listen to Willard, couldn’t listen to Rick, and can’t stand Obama for more than two seconds...

I think he’s right. The only question I have is WHY all the supposedly conservative sources, from Fox to Rush with many stops in between, were so in the tank for Romney. What is his magic?

And why can’t they at least understand that GOP voters just don’t like him?

I never thought I’d see the day when Newt Gingrich, of all people, would be whining like a petulant child.

***********
Ah, come on friend— tell the truth- you’ve always thought Newt’s been a “whiner”. Right?

Not to worry though— Fox and Romney won’t lose any supporters- they’ll continue to lead most of their viewership by the nose.

VinL - you have generally been a strong and positive advocate for your candidate throughout this primary, and I salute you for that. My problem with soooo many of the other Gingrich fans has been there blatant transparency. Rick took FOX to task for shilling for Romney back in mid-March and the Newt fans piled on him for being a crybaby....

Now, Newt does the same thing and he’s “telling it like it is”.

I never had any respect for Fox to begin with. They always struck me as CNN light. BOR and Hannity? Give me a break, is that as conserative as you can go? I don’t get my news served to me, I’ll read it and decide for myself

His magic is he’s a liberal. Do you really think the people who work at Fox are conservatives? They aren’t. Some might be Republicans but there’s not a conservative in the bunch. I’d bet the farm on that.
