Gingrich Unloads on Fox News in Private Meeting

- During a meeting with 18 Delaware Tea Party leaders here on Wednesday, Newt Gingrich lambasted The Fox News Channel, accusing the cable news network that employed him as recently as last year of having been in the tank for Mitt Romney from the beginning of the Republican presidential fight and singling out former colleagues for attacking him out of what he characterized as personal jealousy.

“I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through,” Gingrich said during the private meeting at Wesley College to which RealClearPolitics was granted access. “In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of Fox. That’s just a fact.”

Gingrich’s contract as a Fox News contributor was terminated last spring, as he was gearing up for his White House run.

The former House Speaker’s blunt remarks about Fox came in response to a question from one of the Delaware Tea Party leaders about the manner in which his campaign has been treated by conservative media outlets.

Gingrich did not pull his punches in accusing Rupert Murdoch -- the chairman and CEO of the News Corporation, Fox News’ parent company -- of pushing for Romney behind the scenes.

“I assume it’s because Murdoch at some point said, ‘I want Romney,’ and so ‘fair and balanced’ became ‘Romney,’” Gingrich said. “And there’s no question that Fox had a lot to do with stopping my campaign because such a high percentage of our base watches Fox.”

Gingrich saved his most personal condemnation for George Will, a conservative columnist and frequent television commentator, who has been critical ...(read more)

FOX did their attacks on Newt after SC then once they thought they had taken him out they have ignored him, never mentioning him hardly and FOX thinks they are going to be rewarded with our viewership and the establishment thinks we should just forget how they treated Cain, Michelle, Newt and all because they have been pushing Romney for the get go.

Hell all they care about over at FOX is their own wallets and power and to hell with everything else.

So long as their market and 401k’s go up then all is fine they think.

“Cry me a bucket Newt, cry me a bucket...”

Newt is just calling a Spade A Spade...informing people that the “System Is Rigged” (read that somewhere).

I don’t understand why Gingrich will not go nuclear with Romney’s eligibility status (Father was Mexican)
***********

Actually, that’s the problem. Newt can’t go after Romney because the conservative media (Drudge, Rush, Fox, coulter) are in the tank. Also, Romney simply has too much money- he controls the narrative.

Newt realized that after Florida. Since, his goal has been to fly under the radar to the convention- and then his audience is limited to (2500+/-) delegates—and Romney’s negative ads are off the table. .

Long shot, but it was the only available strategy.

Romney’s father may have been born in Mexico, but his parents were both U.S. citizens and George Romney derives his U.S. citizenship from his parents.

Mitt Romney was born in the United States of citizen parents. That means he is a Natrual Born citizen.

Newt hit the nail on the head. Romney news has been smearing him from the beginning. Between, Rove, Kraut and Hume it was a Nightly Newt bash fest. I hope they are happy now that it looks like Willard is our man. I can only hope he is willing to smear Obama as badly as he smeared Newt and Rick.

Thank you, NEWT.

The truth remains that his enemies are mine; they’re still out there, and they are legion.

Would love to see the base fight back, but think they are mostly worn out and throwing in the towel in favor of golf and lawn work.

Since the minute Santorum quit, Fox has been absolutely vicious against Gingrich. I have lost all respect for Fox because of the way they presented any information regarding Newt as well as the manipulation of his comments.

I lost respect for them when they began running more and more celebrity sleaze as "news", with hosts pretending to be shocked and horrified, but not shocked and horrified enough to stop talking about it rather than spending the next 5-10 minutes discussing it in detail. You can't have children around if you have Fox News on - it's not family-friendly.

And I lost respect for them when they began to push Romney and more and more.

And I lost respect for them when they hired Jesse Jackson's daughter.

Fox News' true colors are showing.

I still think that was a total setup from the beginning FOR Newt. John King has known Newt since 1993, long before King ever even joined CNN.

I would really be shocked if that was a true “gotcha” type question. In reality I think King asked on purpose to give Newt a slam dunk and allow him to attack.

They [GOP-e]could be golfing." *****************

The GOP, Fox News, Drudge Report and others pushing RINO2 in 12 is a crapshoot that failed last time they tried it. This time the stakes are the future of America and everyone in it.

They are walking on shaky ground and are not far separated from the slimy lamestream media that already has lost all crediblity. If Obama wins a second term, each of them will share complicity.

Yah, yah... but he sure enjoyed tooting his horn on FOX when he thought they would help put him over the top... he had his time in the sandbox, now its time to go home take a bath and be ready to help defeat Obamy... savvy?

If my wife and I watch anything on FOX anymore it’s Greta and sometimes Hannity. I quit reading George Will twenty years ago, he was either attacking Conservatives or Conservative principles, he was touted as a Conservative but I never had much in common with him.

I never thought I'd see the day when Newt Gingrich, of all people, would be whining like a petulant child.

Next thing you know a website will marginalize itself.

I sent Newt more money yesterday after Santorum suspended. I couldn’t get through the first time. I’m hoping that was because the website was busy with others donating.
