Lugar used nearly $15K in taxpayer money for hotel stays
The Indianapolis Star ^ | April 2, 2012 | Heather MacWilliams

After looking at their records, Lugar’s staff found that he erroneously billed taxpayers $4,500 in hotel stays. However, a US Senate investigation, initiated by Lugar, found the number to be three times higher.

“He’s paid that back with a personal check and resolved it,” said Fisher.

Or is it resolved?

Raju said this, coupled with the fact that Lugar has not maintained a residence in Indiana since 1977, could damage his political future.

“This is the first time it’s really come to hit him this hard," said Raju.

Last week, I sent a $25 check to Richard Mourdock. This is as good a race as any for Freepers to write some checks!

ALWAYS think before you act. I like Mourdock a lot, but the question is, can he beat the Democrat candidate (probably Donnaley) Donalley is an Obama lackey who, despite his promise to never do so, voted in favor of abortion in the Obamacare bill. He is a Notre Dame grad and I think it is time for him to examine his concience and recall that Catholics aren't supposed to lie nor vote for abortion.....anybody but Donnaley is fine by me.

Sounds like good “strategery”, to me, m. But it all depends upon whether the GOP can control him. He’s been pretty unreliable on important Conservative issues, from what I’ve seen in the past, and recently heard here at FR.

He needs a "guardian" who would accompany him everywhere. Also, we need someone to make sure he makes NO public speaking appearances.

(That's part of the 'drool control" program.)

Lugar should be wealthy...he’s been able to trade on insider information for over 30 years!

Lugar has a family farm in southern Indiana that his family has owned for about 100 years....that will do for a voting address

I haven't had time to research it yet but I heard the other day the 'Lugar Family Farm" curently has no house on it.

Does a piece of property require a habitable dwelling or at least a tent, to qualify as a residence?

The first American residents in Indiana lived outdoors in the open ~ even Abe Lincoln grew up in little more than a lean-to.

Indiana cherishes its pioneer hardiness.

LMAO! Yes they were all pioneers, but this is not the northwest territory. I'm asking about current law that in fact just cost a secretary of state his job because of residency requirements.

Keep in mind that the “Lugar family farm” is adjacent to the Indianapolis International Airport. Nobody actually lives there.
