Simply biting into one causes the mouth to draw up tighter than a rusty bumper bolt making eating impossible. Brings to mind memories of youth...a large, gnarled persimmon tree in the woods behind the neighborhood. Many neighborhood-kid dares were issued to bite into those green ones. Of course, it was also a pleasure to visit the tree when they were ripened and "just right".

From the article:
The trial was conducted in India and paid for by Applied Food Sciences Inc. of Austin, Tex., a manufacturer of green coffee bean extract.

Given all the warnings about potential food shortages in the very near future, maybe carrying a little extra fat is a good, evolutionarily smart idea, at least until this progressive/socialist revolution thing is over and we get back to prosperity and freedom again.
Mass starvation is a very effective diet and carrying an extra 10-20 lbs might mean you survive until you get to eat again.
The obama diet? Hoard and eat like you won't see food again.

Nothing like the wild ones for flavor. The other treat I used to find was the paw-paw. Nothing like it!
