WASHINGTON, March 24 (UPI) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton approved $1.3 billion in annual military aid to Egypt, waiving congressionally mandated democratic reform conditions.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Clinton waived the conditions based on U.S. national security interests and a goal of maintaining a strategic partnership with Egypt, Voice of America reported Friday.

"What we are looking to do here is to continue to work with Egyptian partners on the kind of future that they want for Egypt and that is in our mutual interest," Nuland said.

Under a law passed by Congress in December, Egypt's military rulers are required to support a transition to a civilian government, hold free and fair elections and protect freedom of religion and association as conditions for receiving the aid.

Under a law passed by Congress in December ...

The law has been in place for four months, and the Obama Admin decides to ignore it -- because laws don't matter any more.

No, Hillary, there is no “Muslim Spring.” Whoops, the U.S. made a big boo-boo in Egypt. Mubarek was not out to make the world Islamic and not through terrorism.

It is unconstitutiomnal for the Sec. of State to do that. However, if they usurp the rules and no body opposes them then it becomes the law. Where are our Republican Representatives?

Pretty clear we have no representation from our Congresspeople and Senators.

The booze and girls must be unbelievable inside that Beltway - no time or inclination to bother with anything else I guess.

It is clear that the next republican/conservative president is going to have one heck of a mess to clean-up.

Congress will remain silent on this issue because not one of them has a bigger set than Hildabeast Clinton does.

Damn! I wish they (AP) wouldn't do that. Every time I see a headline like “Clinton OKs $1.3B in military aid to Egypt”
I get bad memory flashes. memory flashes back to the 90s. For the sake of my mental health, they should use the woman's first name.
“Hillary OKs $1.3B in military aid to Egypt”
See that doesn't bring back the same sordid memories.

Why do we even bother having a Congress?

Between EO's, a selective Enforcement by the "Justice" Department, and now the State Dept. thumbing their noses at the law?

How are these acts not Treason?

Why would they? They are the ones who profit from these "aid" programs. Nothing goes to Egypt. All aid programs exist so that our politicians can make money. Egypt won't see any money. According to the agreement, they have to use the money for procuring goods and services from the cronies of politicians here. The money is not even transferred to them.

Their politicians get around 50 million dollars as bribes for facilitating this transaction.

Congress needs to step in right now and seek an unjunction to stop this, then begin to development impeachment proceedings, regardless of the elections.

At some point, the rule of law must be followed and enforced. If not, we are no longer a free country.
