Mass isn't there to salve your own ego. It's not a community meeting with some 80s folk music, funny robes, and bad food. The point of Mass is to worship the Almighty God, to adore the sacrifice of His Second Person, and to commune with Jesus in the sacrament of the Eucharist. Heaven is present at Massl it is indeed within each communicant. The Mass embodies the principle "In giving you receive." I am very lucky that my parish offers confession before every Mass, plus Tuesday evenings in Lent. On Sundays, the priest remains in the confessional until the line is finished, even going into the Mass if he has to.
