Rick Santorum will win the Louisiana primary Saturday, CBS News projects. The victory is fresh evidence of the weakness of front-runner Mitt Romney, who is nonetheless increasingly likely to be the Republican who takes on President Obama in November.
According to exit polls, Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator and social conservative, did well among evangelicals, Catholics and those who identify themselves as "very conservative."
With 16 of 4,267 precincts reporting, Santorum had about 40 percent of the vote, while second place Romney had 31 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was a distant third with 21 percent and Texas Rep. Ron Paul had just 5 percent of the counted vote.
Santorum also did well among those who consider the economy the most important issue of the election. Among those voters, Santorum had 44 percent support, compared to 33 percent support for Romney, according to CBS News exit polls. The economy was considered the top factor among Republican voters in Louisiana Saturday.

You know, your post really makes me mad. I am a Conservative Evangelical Christian homeschooling mother of 3 boys and I am a STRONG Newt supporter! I support Newt and not Rick for MANY reasons. One is that I believe with all of my heart and soul that Newt Gingrich is the only one that could beat Obama. Sorry, that’s just the plain truth. And I am not willing to give up on this fight.
As for us not wanting a “moral” man, that smacks of hypocritical judgment. Sin is sin, God does not punish one sin more than another. Rick is a sinner just like the rest of us. We all fall in different ways and Christ is faithful to forgive ALL sins. “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judges, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”. Mt 7:1-2
Support you candidate, fight for him with all your might. But your moralistic argument only diminishes your cause.
It’s just a coincidence.
You may not know with your fresh sign on, but most of the people selling Milt here are Newt enthusiasts. Very odd.
Not really, Newt is far closer to Mitt than he is to conservatives.
I voted for Newt in the TN primary. Had he not been in the race, my vote would not have gone to Santorum. Don't assume.

So there’s no difference between Hitler and Mother Teresa? God does make a difference between sins, at least as far as this life goes. I’m sure you would judge between having a normal decent family move in next door and a man that’s on the sex offenders list.
And yet he stays, pushing for a brokered convention where he will either pull off an upset and become the Republican's nominee or Sarah Palin's running mate. While Santorum is slightly more desirable than Romney he's no Newt or Sarah. I'm happy Newt is hanging in there. The big money from the moron church is trying to buy mitt a nomination but when someone has to tell you, repeatedly, just how conservative they are... Well.. There is NOTHING conservative about him. Santorum is a decent man but he too is unwilling to dismantle the federal bureaucracies and return our nation to a free nation ruled by the government outlined in the US Constitution. A government of the people, for the people and by the people. Aaaaaaah.... I rant. Sorry but one more point. Those of you that whine because Newt is taking votes from Santorum, just remember... According to mitten's camp both Santorum and Newt are siphoning off votes from mitt. The way I see it, at this stage of the process, I'd rather see them taking votes from each other than pulling a perot. And why is it you're not whining about Romney siphoning off votes from Santorum?
Nooooo... He's going to have a tougher road up there because even the Republicans are liberals and romney does well amongst his own kind. Also... Romney's camp has already been caught stuffing ballot boxes (Iowa) and Wisconsin is known for their shenanigans when it comes to election fraud. Every member of the Latter Day Saints for a thousand miles, be they dead or alive, will cast a ballot for mitt in Wisconsin. Heck... I wouldn't be surprised to see some of their pets vote.
Nope... In my opinion the best person in the race at this time is Newt. Since Newt doesn't have a huge cult financing him he needs the convention to get his message out. Santorum is the fly in the ointment and I have no doubts he's being financed by anti-Newt camps on both sides of the isle.
Just my humble opinion but if Romney wins the nomination what we will see will be the battle between the money in the moron church and the money obomba has managed to pilfer from the American tax payers. Romney will lose.
He isn't getting enough support for now. Santorum and Romney's camps keep siphoning off Newt's support and his votes.
I can't wait for the convention. It will be a level playing field by that time and Newt will mop the floor with Rick and mitt.
Seriously, that’s your argument? GRACE covers all SIN, but you must receive Christ as your Savior, the atonement for your sin, the giver of grace for your forgiveness. Newt has stated many times that he knows that he sinned, sought forgiveness and reconciliation with God and received it. And yet people like you want to continue to hold that sin against him. If you do not believe in forgiveness for Newt (how can you, a mere man or woman, judge a man’s true level of repentance?) then how can you believe in forgiveness for yourself? Hypocrisy about grace is what keeps so many people from coming to Christ.
If you want to disagree with Newt about his political positions and use that as an argument against him, fine.
And,do you honestly believe that Hitler trusted Christ as his Savior? Every one WILL be judged according to his or her own faith in Christ.
Next January the Romney etch-a-sketch President with be out erasing all his conservative promises and the Romney Democratic appeasement will begin.
“I believe anybody still supporting Newt, is doing so for a Romney rathaer than Santorum win.”
And I believe that anyone who believes that is an imbecile.
Amen. I voted fir and continue to support Newt. I want nothing to do with Rombama.
I supported Gingrich all the way until the FL primary. His primary ideas are great. But as Rush says elections is about winning. After Santorum’s one day trifecta, then it because clear to me that Santorum was the guy. This has proved all too true. Yet he keeps getting attacked mercilessly on FR. We are not alone here on FR, several commentators have demanded Gingrich to quit. This is what you do when you lose elections be it Bachmann, Cain, or Perry. Gingrich himself demanded Santorum to quit after just one win in South Carolina. Instead, he stubbornly persists and as internal polling data confirm he siphons off votes that could go to Santorum and sink Romney. Certainly this could have occurred in MI and OH. That much is undeniable. But yet we continue to field indefensible attack on a winning candidate. That we cannot abide.
“Everyone who believes that is an imbecile”
And “imbecile” is not an argument and everyone who use it as an argument is an ....huuuuuh . Ah ah !
is an .....huuuuuh or a troll or both of the above .
“And imbecile is not an argument and everyone who use it as an argument is an ....huuuuuh . Ah ah !”
No it’s not an “argument”, it’s an adjective describing someone who made an ignorant assumption, then publicized it.
If it’s not an argument and pretends to “describe someone” who
made a so-called “ignorant assumption” without any begining of an argument it’s huuuuuh a stupid useless sentence and a waste a time, of place and an intellectual pollution
Santorum got 20 delegates in La.
Ah, the judge not lie.
Really...how’s that Newt thing workin’ our for ya? Going to vote for Romney, eh!?
“Really...hows that Newt thing workin our for ya? Going to vote for Romney, eh!?”
You’re now officially in imbecile territory.
English your second (or third) language? Spare me your pompous, incoherent babbling.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still supporting Newt because both Romney and Santorum are spineless, big-government loving go along to get along types. Romney wants to steal the money out of your wallet, and Santorum wants to steal the condom, too. No thanks on either of them.
The fact that so many "conservatives" are "flocking to Santorum" speaks more as to the debased and degenerate trends in modern American conservatism than anything else.
Santorum got 20 delegates in La.
How you figure that?
It was on the news, deport. Did you think I figured that out myself? Deport, you know me better than that! I repeated what they said on the news.
Santorum got 13, Romney 7.
Thank you. Why in the world did they say last night that Santorum got 20? One would think they would confirm before reporting. Oh wait. What am I saying. Thank you for the correction.
OK. The news makes it official I guess. I thought La was a proportional allocation for those above 25% of the vote total. Take care.
Thank you deport. It is always good to see you.

Well said. The moral vanity is strong with Team Santorum.
Speaking against the Holy Spirit is equivalent to rejecting Christ with such finality that no future repentance is possible. So, the one unforgivable sin is rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ. This cannot be committed by a true Christian.
One and only. Everything else is covered is by grace, it is not “graded” on a “sliding scale”.
If that person has truly believed in Christ, asked for forgiveness and truly repented of his sin, then yes he is forgiven. That doesn’t mean that the man no longer receives his earthly punishment. But he will be in heaven when he leaves this earth. Sorry if that is a hard pill for you to swallow but the Word of God is clear. SINS will be forgiven if they are covered by the Blood of Christ. David committed adultery and then sent his lover’s husband to die in battle and yet he was forgiven and is forever known as a “man after God’s own heart”.
Obviously, I am not dealing with a believer or you are a ‘god’ unto yourself that allows you to pick and choose what you want to believe from the Word of God and judge who is “moral” and who is not, so I guess I will stop here.
1. a spiritual conversion in 2005
2. a re-commitment to the American founders’ vision (circa 2007-8)
3. a re-education as to the threats of Marxism & globalism.
He has made commitments that follow suit.
You’re not making any sense. WHERE in the BIBLE does it say that missing church is a sin? That is a man-made rule because Jesus never said anything like that.
Are you saying that there is a limit to forgiveness? That you believe that there are just some things that cannot be forgiven? When I read 1 John 1:9 I do not see a list of things that can’t be forgiven.
As for “praying” for a dead person, uh no. Jesus said “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that WHOSOEVER believes in Him shall not perish but everlasting life” That makes it clear that it takes PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, personal belief, not prayers from your loved ones.
It is clear that you have some pretty different views of Christianity than I do. Mine come from the Bible, where do your’s come from? I am not trying to be ugly to you, just trying to understand where you are coming from.
Okay, you don't pray for people. You believe it is all up to an individual and you don't believe in praying for anyone who has passed on nor having ones loved ones pray on their behalf.
Now, I know Satan believes in Jesus...they spent quite a while together, but I do not believe Satan will have eternal life. Must be something slightly different, in the message of the scriptures, than simply what you quoted there...a little more to the story.
There is, like you mentioned earlier, only one unforgivable sin.
You say your views come from the Bible, but really that is not entirely so. Only some of your views do. Others have come and are coming from the Deceiver...of course that goes for all religions and all people, really. He's got his minions in them all.
We should pray for our loved ones and we should have them pray for us. We should pray for our religious leaders, God's chosen, and we should ask them to pray for us. We should pray for all of mankind, both alive and dead and pray for God to have mercy on us all. Many graces can be granted and many souls can be saved and much suffering can be aleviated - and yes, it is ALL in the Bible, since you feel it must only originate there. But, we must remember, all of the Bible was one oral tradition.
Jesus instructed us how to pray - other people are the we and us and our in the Lord's Prayer.
We should seek forgiveness for your sins and repent and ask a priest to absolve us of our sins...God breathed on man only two times in history. Once, when He breathed life into Adam and once when He breathed His Holy Spirit into the Apostles at Pentecost.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
“As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (John 20:2123).
Christ told the apostles to follow his example: “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you” (John 20:21). Just as the apostles were to carry Christs message to the whole world, so they were to carry his forgiveness: “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 18:18).
This power was understood as coming from God: “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Cor. 5:18). Indeed, confirms Paul, “So we are ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20).
Some say that any power given to the apostles died with them. Not so. Some powers must have, such as the ability to write Scripture. But the powers necessary to maintain the Church as a living, spiritual society had to be passed down from generation to generation. If they ceased, the Church would cease, except as a quaint abstraction. Christ ordered the apostles to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” It would take much time. And he promised them assistance: “Lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age” (Matt. 28:1920).
http://www.catholic.com/tracts/the-forgiveness-of-sins xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I am interested to see where in the Bible you say it says not to pray for the dead, or others. I am interested also to see where in the Bible you say it says all sins are equal to one another. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx God's intent is that we believe in Jesus and have everlasting life, but it takes more than simply believing in Him to ensure we do have it. Like I mentioned, even Satan believes in Jesus. Do you believe God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit or the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Queen of heaven speak to us today? Or, did God just let us alone in the world after Jesus' ascension into heaven? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Revelation 5 [7] And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne. [8] And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures, and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints:
You are Catholic. That answers a lot of questions for me. Thanks.
Have a great day!
