More peer-reviewed science contradicting the warming-alarmist "scientific consensus" was announced yesterday, as a new study shows that the well-documented warm period which took place in medieval times was not limited to Europe, or the northern hemisphere: it reached all the way to Antarctica.
The research involved the development of a new means of assessing past temperatures, to add to existing methods such as tree ring analysis and ice cores. In this study, scientists analysed samples of a crystal called ikaite, which forms in cold waters.
Ikaite is an icy version of limestone, explains earth-sciences prof Zunli Lu. The crystals are only stable under cold conditions and actually melt at room temperature.

They say science is self-correcting, and so it is. Let's see if the lib politicians can catch up.
The scientists seem to downplay or ignore the Medieval Warm Period.
I’m no scientist, but I have a feeling that there are elements to climate cycles which we just don’t understand.
Heck, we have had numerous ice ages in earth’s history.
Probably there have been periods of warming too.
During the last ice age, Chicago was buried under a mile of ice.
Researchers in Antarctica have found coal. Coal is formed from deposits of organic matter, such as vegetation. At one time Antarctica cleary was not a frozen wasteland.
So, perhaps these guys don’t truly understand all of this, but they have a desire to put society into a straight jacket in various policies, so we can “fight global warming”, and make liberals happy.
The fact is though that it will make little difference to the totalitarian thugs using 'AGW' as a club to batter western civilization.
Horse flatulence?
The article proves IT’S CYCLICAL!
Antarctic had coal deposits for the same reason they found Mastodons with warm climate vegetation in their digestive tract.
The earth’s crust rotated about 30 deg (N to S) putting Antarctic at the south pole and the Mastodons (in Russia) near the new N pole. They basically froze to death within a day or two.
Also explains the Great Flood because if both poles melted they would have done so quickly causing cities to be covered with over 400 feet of water (in some cases - within days or a couple of weeks & other locations experiencing flash flood that wiped out everything instantly.
— Noah — Remember him?
The media thugs who spread the blatant AGW propaganda are proving that even if you can't hide the truth forever, you may be able to hide it long enough to inflict mortal damage on a society. The truth makes no difference when the public hears only lies.
Read the full article. History over rides “consensus”
LOL.
I have no opinion other than what’s been reported. If you’re suggesting he was murdered I just won’t go there without specific evidence. I’m waiting for the autopsy report like everyone else and hoping the system still has some integrity.
That sums it up better than you may think, Dilbert San Diego. Neither you nor I nor anyone else has anything like a clear, comprehensive picture of our planet's climate. Genuine climate scientists know isolated bits and pieces; how they fit together, however, remains unknown, nor is there any reason to believe they have more than a small percentage of all the bits and pieces that will eventually be known.
The climage pseudo-scientists who jumped on the "anthropogenic global warming" band wagon did both their own corner of science and real scientists the world over a horrible disservice. They whored for Marxists in the name of science. Do you suppose they're sorry? Sorry they got caught, anyway.
Do you suppose other fake scientists are already working on the next impending imaginary disaster for the sake of advancing the anti-religion of Marxism? I'm sure they are.
Thanks for posting this.

| Description | Calcite after Ikaite var. Glendonite concretion. The rock was found at Kola Peninsula, Russia. Ikaite is a rare mineral that occurs in nature at temperatures up to 7°C in alkaline, phosphate-rich marine and continental waters. Although ikaite has generally been replaced by calcite (this replacement is called glendonite), it has preserved its original crystal shape. Because of the rather restricted conditions under which ikaite/glendonite forms, it serves as a marker for near-freezing water temperatures. Hydrohalite, a form of salt, precipitates at low temperatures from highly saturated brines. It is not well-preserved in sediments because of its high solubility, but its former existence can be inferred from the presence of halite or other minerals that preserve the shape of the original crystals. Minerals are just one of many proxies used by geologists to reconstruct past climates. Some minerals like ikaite define a very narrow set of conditions, while others, like the clays, appear in a number of geologic and climatic settings. Minerals along with other indicators fossils, tree rings, pollen, ice cores, geochemistry or isotopes provide tantalizing clues to ancient climates. |

Antarctica froze over 14 million years ago — central Antarctica has pretty much been frozen since the the last real ice age or the peiod known as snowball earth prior to 650mya.
Global warming warrior ping!
Shades of the book “The HAB Theory”, a fictional account from the seventies I think. It postulated a capsizing earth about every 50,000 years.
SF
Right down to the name change. Remember 10+ years ago it was called The Medieval Climate Optimum.
You can't call anything to do with warming "optimum" anymore
bump
NOW I see your post!
Correct me if I am wrong but does not continetal drift explain that Antarctica drifted into the south pole region (and froze) and will one day drift out of it (and thaw)?
Thanks for the Glow-baloney Warming ping.
A good article. Let’s hope these researchers don’t lose their grants for committing actual science.
What’s the source of that graph? I’d like to digg it or otherwise spread it via social media.
one day drift out of it (and thaw)?
—
Remember CD is a theory, and like all other theories may not be entirely correct.
As things stand now, the theory is that all landmass was in the southern hemisphere.
That is interesting to me because it implies that some very large body - not the moon - drew it there by gravitational force. When that force was withdrawn, the landmass broke up and began to drift.
There all all kinds of theories about the make up of the early solar system, the status quo one which prevails currently is looking more and more unlikely.
So what will happen 100s of millions of years from now (the time it would take for Antarctica to drift away) is simpily conjecture.
The poles do shift, so there is no guarentee that Antarctica will not be unfrozen even in a new location. Thawing also is a function of solar output. What will be the state of the sun then? Who knows?
Currently, we are overdue for a cool period and possiblily a new ice age.
When was the last Ice Age?
When did Noah and The Great Flood happen?
You’ve hit the key point...To the Left, “science” is what they say it is, based on the political agenda...
And since government and foundations are the source of grants, the mother’s milk of science, there will always be “scientists” (aka whores) who share the desire for a certain outcome willing to work backwards to “prove” it in exchange for payment...And if the “scientists” already share the underlying bias, then so much the better...
This is not a general indictment of science or scientists; the majority are honest and seeking the truth...It’s an acknowledgement that the afore described whores exist and are willing useful idiots of the Left...
Lysenkoism: After Trofim Denisovitch Lysenko; describes the manipulation/distortion of scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion dictated by an ideological bias, often related to social or political objectives.

“Scientists” are only speculating on things that have been going on for eons, because for the first time, they are witness to it. *sheesh*
Sidebar, that shill who dreamed up the BS about how AquaNet destroyed the ozone layer died this year.
Thank God for small favors!
“Scientists” need to leave the Earth alone, learn from it and stop their panic-mongering.
I’m sure God is not pleased with some of those folks.
Just send me all the data and I’ll get back to you tomorrow.
has held up quite well since the hypothesis was first offered in 1918. It is generally accepted by Mathematicians, Geologists, Geo-Physicists, Archaeologists, Paleontologists, Astronomers, Astrophyicists etc. In fact, the only segment in which it is not accepted seems to be among Prius-owner Left-Wing "Climatologists," who usually turn out to have been Poetry Majors.
This and the Maunder Sunspot Cycle just about handle every climate change exigency!
I have put together a short PowerPoint presentation on it, which I show to groups around the community. Now I am forced to go about in a disguise and I am followed everywhere by a Prius that has a very un-aerodynamic noose on the aerial!
Milankovitch Glaciation Cycle Ping!

The libs don’t catch up. They make more noise and get more laws passed and more court orders.
I knew the Sahara had been fertile grasslands just a few thousand years ago - there are cave paintings of men hunting large herbivores in lush grass, in what is now barren waste. Well into historical times, Northern Africa was the bread basket of the Roman Empire. Literally, as the grain that was shipped to Rome and distributed as bread to the Roman masses came from there.
But I recently saw a program about the Sahara, that said it not only used to have grass, but vast river systems, and lakes that rivaled the Great Lakes - in surface area, if not volume. It also said that the Sahara has swung from one extreme, to the other, many times, probably due to variations in the Earth's tilt. We are at a very dry point in the cycle, but 10,000 years ago the Sahara was lush and green, and it will be again 10,000 years hence.
I looked for a graphic of the data from this new paper, and could not locate it. They want $40 for the pdf, from where I stand.
If someone has seen their graphics, I ask that they make a fast sketch (freehand on Paint or whatever) of what their data shows for temperatures in the Antarctic history, post it here, and ping me.
Thanks
The coal was probably formed at least 200 million years ago when Antarctica was not located at the south pole.
