Miller said he rooted for N.C. State against Georgetown, and when they play out-of-state. And any time a Wolfpack win doesn't affect Carolina's ranking.
Duke is another story altogether.
"I have said very publicly that if Duke was playing against the Taliban," Miller said very publicly again, "then I'd have to pull for the Taliban."
Guess who's not running for re-election?

Like Rep. Miller, I am a UNC grad and a fan of its basketball team. But for a public official to state, even jokingly (ha, ha, that Brad -- what a cut-up, turning violent anti-American terrorism into a gag) that he'd root for the Taliban in a theoretical matchup against Duke is beyond the bounds of decency. Many of his constituents have surely lost sons or daughters to the Taliban. I wonder if they're laughing.
Next he’ll run over to Durham and blame the Blue Devils for the tire store murders.
I think we are all getting way too sensitive. The art of hyperbole is being crushed by this hyper-sensitivity.
It’s a joke....heck, I’d root for Satan himself over Stanford.
Go CAL !!!
If hyperbole was his intent he could have said something involving one of his enemies, like I’d vote for Bush over Duke. In this case, it’s not so clear that the Taliban is his enemy.
Everyone knows that the Taliban’s basketball team sucks— but you should see their quarterback’s long bomb!
Go easy on him. I say the same thing about the Redskins to anyone who will listen to me...and I live in DC.
