Eric Fehrnstrom, Mitt Romney's senior aide, is probably regretting his now infamous "Etch A Sketch" remark, but the folks that make the toy, Ohio Art sure aren't.

Ohio Art's [OART 0.00 5.65 (+141.25%) ] shares, which trade over the counter in thin volume, soared well over 100 percent on Thursday and at one point reached a 52-week high.

"It kind of caught us by surprise," said Larry Killgallon, president of Ohio Art, the manufacturer of the Etch A Sketch, in an interview with CNBC.com. He came back from a trip to Chicago to be greeted by a deluge of emails about the incident

Romney's run for the presidency effectively ended yesterday. This screw up is going to dog him for the rest of the campaign, simply because of the visual it created.

I like it.

Too bad Mitten’s advisor didn’t say this earlier.

Once they stop buying them for political and comedic props they’ll flat line again. After five minutes its a boring toy.

They’ll hand them out at Every Obama campaign stop now through November.

This will dog Mittens badly. There is some irony in using the word dog.

Yes, it is a very powerful visual.

Plus the fact that Ohio Art moved Etch-a-Sketch production to China ten years ago (which is only going to further feed the anti-free trade/OWS case against Romney)

Lesson of the Day: Do not hire idiots, blabbermouths or saboteurs to work in your campaign.

Drudge must be banking those RNC checks because I see he still isn't spending it on capital investment. I hadn't been there in a while, but his web design still looks like some low budget web page from the local hardware store. At least Santorum has a website that looks like it was created in this decade.

Maybe Santorum and Gingrich should hand them out first. Not that there is any way to stop myth now, but who knows.

Well BO has been responsible for the increase in the sale of guns and ammo and now Mittens for Etch-A-Sketch. Perhaps this will go down in history as their contributions to our national wealth or their actions created or saved millions of jobs.

I’d say that Romney is already helping small business. Way to go!

“Is it just me, or does it seem to be crazy to base public policy on a few selected incidences?”

“Gaffe” is a much abused term. It should be restricted to gross errors and oopsies, not anything that can be used against you politically.

Yes, Romney is helping the small business that makes the Etch-A-Sketch.

Only one problem: They’re now made in China. So Romney as a “job creator” is creating jobs in China, boosting the Chinese economy, and increasing our trade deficit.

the article said their stock went up. Pensioners, probably all in this country, saw their portfolios improve. You going to complain about that too? ;-(
