The Federal Bureau of Prisons has begun to recruit employees who will serve as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender representatives for each correctional facility.
The Department of Justice and the Bureau of Prisons announced the new plan earlier this month. It's for employees who are willing to devote 20 percent of their workday to promoting lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender issues.
The government said LGBT representatives will serve as members of each prison's affirmative action committee.
Specifically, they'll "coordinate activities and programs designed to cultivate LGBT cultural awareness both within and outside the institution."

Twice yesterday, I was told by liberals here at FR that you can’t legilstate morality.
I corrected them of course, but I’m afraid they are still very ignorant on the matter.
As is evident by this article (and thousands like it) this is proof positive that the government can and does legislate morality.
Just the wrong kind of morality.
Wow, that’s going to solve many problems, let’s point out to a group of violent rapist and abusers who the homosexuals are.
And how much will this cost? If it takes 20% of a guard’s time, then I should think quite a bit.
And what will be the message? “When the prison rapists corner you in the men’s room, do not resist them. Their purpose is noble!”

What is a LGBT awareness in and out of the prison?? I know one will become a wife - especially if the criminal is a child rapist. Would a FtM go to a male prison??

Exactly....which is why I described it as unnecessary.
One more thing: I was driving into town on Tuesday morning and passed our local prisoners, all decked out in their black and white stripes, with guard in attendance. They were picking up trash and litter along the roadside...YES...giving something positive back to the society they had hurt.
This is how things SHOULD be done.
..but God forbid any of us on the right talk about social issues........
What prisons need is an effort to stop homosexual rape of other inmates and other prison violence, period. This is just wasteful nonsense.
Taxpayers paying for sex deviates, even when they're imprisoned?
Put those "sensitivity trainers" in a cell with someone of the OPPOSITE SEX, so they can do some Clinical Research?
Here’s another great waste of our money. Who cares where these people work? As long as we don’t have to pay for it.

More tax dollars down the drain. 20% of their time? How about just doing their bleepin’ job of keeping the inmates in some sort of managable situation and within the fences?
This exact thing is being done throught the Federal Government. Agencies are now required to have an LGBT Special Emphasis Manager as part of their Civil Rights program.
