A kiss got two men ejected from Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s visit to a Christian high school in Arlington Heights on Friday.
Video footage from the campaign rally shows Santorum, a vocal opponent of gay marriage, interrupted by shouting from the audience as he addresses the crowd at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights.
The video then shows the two men kissing before a security guard approaches.
The crowd chants, “USA. USA. USA,” as the two men are escorted from the packed gymnasium.
Media outlets have identified the two men as Timothy Tross, of Lombard and Benjamin Clifford, of Algonquin. Messages left for Tross and Clifford were not immediately returned Saturday.
After the brief interruption, Santorum continued his speech, saying, “We will stand by the values that made this country the greatest country in the world.”

I grew up with a guy who is gay and he thinks this kind of thing does more harm than good.

I doubt they were ejected for the kiss. They disrupted the rally, which will get you ejected. Security was already on its way. The USA chant (standard response to disruptors) was already underway. The kiss was street theatre, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the headline were prewritten.
Dave Gregory will probably be all over it on Meet the Press tomorrow. Any response to the incident by Santorum will confirm the meme that he is a bigot.
