Excerpt

A court-appointed special prosecutor has determined that serious misconduct by Justice Department prosecutors tainted the federal investigation and trial of former Sen. Ted Stevens, according to a report released Thursday.

*snip*

"The government introduced false business records to boost the value of renovations on the Senator's Alaska home. It also hid from the defense the evidence needed to show that the value was much less than the government claimed, including evidence that its key witness disagreed with the government about the value of the renovations," Stevens defense lawyers Brendan Sullivan and Robert Cary said in a statement.

*snip*

Following the trial, the FBI's Chad Joy filed a whistleblower complaint with the District Court alleging that the lead FBI agent on the case, Mary Beth Kepner, might have had an inappropriate relationship with Allen, the government's star witness, and that the agent was allegedly telling potential witnesses about grand jury information before trial.

Bill Allen takes the stand in Ted Stevens trial - September 30, 2008

Bill Allen, former CEO of VECO Corp. The government’s star witness took the stand today in the trial of Senator Ted Stevens.

Bill Allen was once a respected businessman in Alaska, and ran Veco, one of the state’s largest private companies. But he pleaded guilty last year to bribing state lawmakers, and prosecutors say he gave Ted Stevens gifts worth more than $250,000. Stevens is accused of lying about the gifts on his Senate Financial Disclosure forms.

FBI agent Mary Beth Kepner paid a social visit to the Alaska Democrats Convention Sunday. She said she was there to see John Dean give the Keynote address.

I said to her “I can see why you’d be at the Republican Convention, but why here?” She said, while raising both arms, “I’m an independent” and she was just here to see Dean.

If he had retired at a normal age he would be alive and healthy and never convicted. What other what ifs can we play.

Mark Levin has spoken of this. Leftists burrow themselves into the government service system. Our next Prez will have to deal with thousands of powerful, almost untouchable Marxists within the administrative agencies.

That is of course, unless our new President goes by the name of Newt. When agencies are disestablished . . . AMF.

If he’d won reelection as expected, the Republicans would have been in a less precarious position in the Senate during the maneuvering leading up to Obamacare. An additional vote would have kept the Democrats from cloture moving it forward. That’s a big if and shows even RINO’s are good for something sometimes.

Just further proof that the imperial federal government thugs in Sodom on the Potomac can destroy any citizen's life, take his property, take his money, crush his life, ruin his reputation, and simply say: “oh, sorry, our bad.” and walk away without anything happening to them. This is what Americans, sitting on the couch watching the big game or latest stupid reality show, lets the stinking gov’mint get away with by simply “not caring about politics”, etc. This is what we get. This is why we are in the shape we are in now. Back in the 1700-1800s, Americans would have took this mob out to the nearest tree.

Have you noticed how liberal AK has become, as so many other states too, of course?

THis lifelong “RINO” served honorably and with distinction in WWII in the China/Burma area. He was a loyal Republican on almost EVERY issue. He fought TIRELESSLY to open up the vast energy resources in Alaska.

He has been replaced by a witless, useless, Obama worshipper.

I’ll take a RINO like him any day.

Conservative purists better wake-up. As much as I would LOVE it, we will never have a majority of Conservative Republicans who ALL AGREE on every issue.

If the Bastards could do this to a sitting U.S. Senator, imagine what they could do to you or me!!

One thing they can, and did do was make it the policy of the Justice Dept that so-called "hate crime" statutes shall NOT apply to African Americans, gays and other so-called "protected groups". Despite official denials this is now the policy of the Federal government.

It’s like when cops interview a murder suspect. They either say “He didn’t act like he was innocent” or “He acted guilty”.

Are the lawyers in question Democrats? Their actions gave the seat to the Democrats and another vote to pass Obamacare in the next election. Yes it occured when Bush was President but their actions affected the next election.

What really grates me is that the vast majority of Freepers right here wanted to burn Uncle Teddy at the stake. As an Alaskan, I knew there was much more to the story; heck Stevens told everybody he would be vindicated when everything came out.

The onslaught of lies and dirt cost Stevens the election and it was close. Now ya got the Pro Obama Senator (photo radar) Begich voting with him every time; hope all the conservatives are happy; they deserve no better.

Ya know Starwise, when I mentioned that they were all wrong about Ted Stevens, they better think about what they are saying, they crucified me.

There are some good decent people on FR, been on here myself since 1996; but there sure are some for real deal fools too. I just wish ole Uncle Teddy hadn't flown out west on the fishing trip. he'd be around to laugh at the crooks today.

Heartbreaking. Poor Senator Stevens, safe in the Arms of the Lord. RIP. May God bless and keep his family.

I can't say on a family forum what I would ask God to do to his persecutors (yes, I know how to spell prosecutors).
