Portland Presidential Debate Canceled.
KATU.com ^ | March 15, 2012 | Staff

Posted on 03/15/2012 2:28:13 PM PDT by true believer forever

After months of planning, the Oregon Republican Party had to cancel their presidential debate just days before it was scheduled to happen.

The two leading candidates, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, both declined invitations, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting, which was hosting the debate.

Without the front-runners, organizers decided it wasn’t worth holding the debate.

A party spokesman said the campaigns have changed strategies and don’t see the advantage of national debates. He said organizers did their best to make the debate happen, but in the end it wasn’t in the cards.

Gingrich is finished—It's a two man race now—both Mitt and Rick got campaigning to do and it would be stupid politically to play to Newt's debating skills...

this is a state debate, read the article... and clean up your language. Do you have a link for the news account of you being appointed spokesman for “the public”? Or are you just always right about everything...everywhere...

LOL, you are funny, there has not been any debates scheduled for months that have not already taken place. And you can look up the decline in viewers if you wish. A state debate but they were willing to more it to wherever, sure. No one around here will fall for that.

As they say, “politics ain't beanbag” and now that Newt is out, not to win the nomination, but to deprive both Rick and Mitt the 1144 they are smart not to give him the time of day.

He is a sore loser trying to make everyone else a loser too.

NEWT DAILIES CHAIN - 03.15.12

Grass and boots oriented - involvement oriented - state oriented – primary - caucus oriented…

Bits and Pieces from across the net – what people are doing and just starting to do. To motivate you. Move you, get you to thinking. Inspire you, or just get you off the couch for a little while. Newt has said his campaign is now a movement campaign, which simply means, he is carrying, once again, the banner of conservatism, this time for a new generation. Get your eyes off the math and the convention, and DO SOMETHING everyday for Newt and his message, our message, and let God do the rest.

03.15.12:

STRATEGY

I recieved from the campaign a letter of strategy for the second half of the campaign, I can assure you with organization and mobilization this nomination can be won by Gingrich, but it is up to us his supporters..We all should be setting our goals and planning our rallies, it is important for the country to visually SEE the people out in force supporting Newt..I urge you all to start rallies this weekend if you did not begin last weekend...it does no need be a large group of people at your rally but it does need to be a consstent show..I know even one or two people standing on a corner can start a movement.. WE need to do this..please organize in your town.

CALIFORNIA

Antelope Valley California and surrounding areas, 2:30 Saturday afternoon (3.17), Rancho vista and 10th west across from the mall on the Jared’s corner..bring Newt signs..homemade are great..this is a Newt rally not a Tea Party rally so please be supportive of our candidate NEWT!

RALLIES STARTED BY AN ARMY OF ONE

Just curious did anyone besides me have a rally this weekend? mine was very tiny, but we will be out again next Saturday holding our Newt signs up ..I hope everyone starts doing this each Saturday, it will grow and we will see a real movement towards Gingrich!

LET BECK HEAR FROM YOU

postings need to be made on Glenn beck and producers Stu FaceBook for Newt air time and Gingrich needs to be treated with respect. Demand it. they have email accounts and Face Book accounts, use them, I do! power in numbers- Beck has scorched earth Newt calling him a progressive the damage must be undone. for ammo go to www.politijim.com he is a Newt supporter read his latest for ammo. Beck is supporting Santorum (the next George Washington) he called him!!! http://www.politijim.com/2012/03/slutss-for-santorum-part-1-truth.htm

SATURDAY MOM AND DAUGHTER RALLY – QUALITY TIME

My daughter and I will be out standing on the most traveled corner in my area today holding Newt signs, hoping that those that pass will feel free to stop and join us, Rome was not built in a day and rallies usually take a few days to become ignited..This will be the first of many more to come, I have invited a few Newt supporters to join me all I can do is hope they will show..from here on out until November thats where I’ll be on Saturdays..with the exception of my gril trip to vegas, but hey even us girls going on our trip can bring our signs and rock vegas that weekend at least for a couple of hours! Lol

Rally update: ok I did my small but powerful rally today, me and my daughter stood on the busiest intersection of our valley for 1 and a half hours holding our Newt signs, got lots of honks and thumbs up, maybe next weekend others will join us...I plan to be out there every Saturday come rain or come shine...even if I am the only one standing there..I feel it is that important...silly as it sounds even one person can make a difference..just wish more felt that way!

POSTCARDS

Newt needs to send postcards outlining his stategies and comparing it to Santorum’s record. That is what Santorum is doing only with lies. The post card reads” The facts..” and then lists that Newt voted for Healthcare mandates, cap and trade, wallstreet, and others. All lies and taken out of context, of course, but nevertheless, people read it, and go vote. Not as many are on facebook as you would think...PLEASE, could someone get the message to him to do this in every state—postcards postcards...I’ll see who I can send the idea to, the director of ourstates......
GET POSTCARDS

Whatever little town you live in, or city or hamlet, you can sit down with your telephone book, online or other, and everyday send 5-10 postcards to people in your town. You can write your own text or get them printed… You may have to incur the costs yourself, but they are manageable. You can also put a little “light” adhesive on them and leave them on a porch rail, banister, apartment lobby – don’t go near the mailboxes themselves, that is a no-no.

Vista Prints is a well-know site to all Tea party and grassroots orgs – and you can take advantage of a lot of their freebies.. .they are of good quality..

The post you replied to so snarkily was a simple post, obviously for Ginrich supporters, why did you have to get involved - to demean people's support of gingrich? to disrespect people giving their hearts and time for Newt, staying in the battle because of their convictions and principles, despite great odds. It it was for individuals supporting Newt... everyday people... and you had to belittle them and me. I never bashed Santorum supporters all those months through and before Iowa, when they were backing what everybody called a lost cause. Ever. When I bash Santorum, I do just that, bash him. And I am proud to be his biggest basher...

I have a vid link of Santorum talking about what he'd been doing since being defeated in PA, and he goes on and on about this company he helped found, how it can censor the internet, especially gambling, be used to block commercials, or portions of programs you don't want your kids to see... and on and on. It was just really creepy..something about it was really creepy. If it would help you, I will dig it out...

I can understand tactically why Rick, Mitt don't want to debate Newt. What I can't understand is why, if Rick really is in this to win, he would not want a chance to debate Romney; who is, after all, the front runner at this point by a goodly margin in delegate count. Rick has done well in debates against Romney; so, why the reluctance now??? Obviously if Rick and Newt had said they were willing to debate Romney would have had to show up to.

The only thing I can logically conclude is that either Rick feels he is not up to the job; or, Rick is not really in this to win. Too bad as I think Rick could make up some ground on Mitt.

Stop it. You know exactly what you were doing... you were making fun of people who supported Newt, and who were willing to go out and stand on street corners for him, against all odds; you were deriding them, and being dismissive of them, the same you do with me, when you can't counter what I say with facts or reason.

As for me, I don't mind long odds, I don't mind hopeless causes, and I am grateful for the people in this world who are willing to stand on street corners with a sign for a candidate that is maligned and demeaned by people like you.

You know exactly what you meant.

First of all. I would take Newt as the nominee if Santorum drops out. Most Santorum supporters would. The problem is that Newt Supporters say they won’t do the same. That is what I mean by spoiled. The only two candidates to get criticized are Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum. Sarah Palin by the liberal press and Rick Santorum by FREEPERS of all people. It is surprising that Rick Santorum is hated so much by FREEPERS even more than Romney by many of them.

It's not that he's hated, naps. He's just not our guy.

It's an election naps. We're supposed to make the choices. Not have them made for us.

People are queasy naps, because the two leading candidates are going right along with co-opting the process, and telling the base -- once again -- to just go along and get along.

Romney and Santorum can't debate Gingrich. They want him to go away. What does that tell you? They are WEAK candidates with bags of money, pitching prose to match the different sides of the conservative base. It's like watching cannibals at work on two sides of a corpse. Question is, who gets to the vital organs first?

This election stinks already.

Of course it is a great FAMILY tool, but if you watched the video, he says there are other levels and ways the system can be used, and talks about that a couple times in the video. And if you couple that video with the following one, where he talks about no porn on the internet, or gambling, not a filter, but outlawing them, then what he truly thinks is a little clearer. and then go from there, to what he says at the debate, compared to, say, what Newt said, and to that, add his words about his kind of conservatism, - you definitely see a "progression" in his thought..

He could have overcome that with better debate performances in Florida and Arizona. He didn't. Newt's never had any better than a puncher's chance.

Santorum weathered similar attacks far better.
