Mitt Romney effectively rules out Rick Santorum as running mate
Yahoo! News ^ | March 13, 2012 | Chris Moody

If Mitt Romney wins the Republican presidential nomination, he'll have many options for a running mate. His current rival Rick Santorum probably won't be one of them.

Romney said as much Tuesday when Neil Cavuto asked him on Fox Business if he would choose a candidate to his right in order to win the election.

"Well that would preclude, of course, Rick Santorum," Romney said. "Because I mean look at his record. I find it interesting that he continues to describe himself as the real conservative.

He’s savin’ the spot for the one helping him the most, and that isn’t Santorum or Paul.

That’d be interesting if you could count on Romney to mean what he says, but, you can’t.

Why would Romney choose Santorum, he already decided on one of the Pauls.

I’d consider holding my nose to vote for Mitt and a suitable VP... but if he goes the Rand route, I’ll leave the President portion of my ballot un-voted.

Hilarious. Looks like Milt is a bit upset that Santorum is effectively challenging him on Romneycare. Having this dope run around telling people he is more Conservative that Rick is a joke after looking at his record as Gov of Mass.

This may explain why I now read that Rick is mad at FOX, calling them out as in the tank for Romney. (Who doesn’t already know this about FAUX, anyway?) What a boring trip down nowhere street to hear Rick complaining of the obvious.

LOL! As I just said on another thread, Rick is going to be a whiner isn’t he? He whines about givens for crying out loud, as a time filler for having nothing exact to say about anything.

That leaves Santorum borrowing from other candidates to say anything practical on policy or theory.

He will be in a permanent snit from now, and seen in shrill mode, doing his best Bachmann in her most unfortunate moments, I’m afraid.

I'm saying I'm a conservative, I give him credit for being a conservative, but not a fiscal conservative. His record does not suggest he's got the fiscal conservative chops that I have." (Romney)

Fiscal conservative 'chops' .... to go along with those 'grits' he's liking more and more these days.

I hear ya, but I tried that approach in ‘08.

I’ve already decided that if Romney is the nominee, I will be voting third party, regardless of who his running mate is.

I guess Mitt get's to define who is and isn't a "conservative". I'm not a Rick fan, nor Mitt fan, so I guess that leaves me with Newt (but I'm not a Newt fan either). They all have their 'Dede' moments, in one way or another. All these three should go back in time an appear on ....

A conservative, a moderate and a liberal walk into a bar.

The bartender says: Hi Mitt.

That was the pre-obama years. Much more at stake now. One's a rino and one's a commie. If romney is the last man standing, I'll take my chances with him. At least he's a capitalist.

Hey Rita, fingers-crossed for a good day.

1. See the gallup poll above, potentially explaining why Newt is so confident in moving forward

2. I have not gone neg on Rick— but have no respect for the fact that rigid Rick can’t see pragmatism- he should have backed off Ala and Miss to hurt Romney - for his own benefit!

Romney could not possible have another white male in the #2 spot. Has to be a woman and/or one of the big minorities. No choice really.
