For self defense: 9mm Luger Plus P 115gr CORBON Self-Defense JHP

For practice use whatever your gun will handle. An occasional and unexpected malfunction is very, very helpful when practicing.

Some of the best stuff I ever shot was Guatemalan surplus made on Olin machines

The Hornady 147gr XTP is not a +P round, it’s as light as a 115gr and flies just the same at short range. Have not tested it at longer range but I’m sure it will drop rapidly beyond 50 feet because the muzzle velocity is much slower than the 115 gr. It’s very easy on the hand however.

That was the first self defense load I tried, it’s got some smack to it like 357SIG.

I would like to see some competition with the AR10s to drop the prices

I don't see the prices coming down any time soon. We've seen some drop in price of the AR-15’s, but with many of them, the quality is lower and with fewer features.

I'm guessing Colt is going to be one of the new manufacturers with a 7.62 AR - with their CM901 rifle.

If I remember correctly, the Army has decided to not make any major changes to their main battle rifle for the foreseeable future.

Can anyone direct me to a good scope for my M1A (calibrated for 7.62 NATO) that is not priced out of this world. I currently have a cheap Bushnell sitting on her to take up space, but I’d like a scope with BDC that isn’t priced as high as the rifle.

AR15s have come way down!
I saw a bushmaster the other month for $599 dealers price.
That puts it about $650 to you

Do a google image search for tula ammo failure.

You might be surprised...

I've heard that on a couple other forums. They say it's because of the steel casings.

It's a shame. Cheap 7.62 is a good thing to plink with at the range. I also bought some Monarch 145gr 7.62 ammo for the same purpose. I like to keep the good Winchester stuff for the real thing.

You may want to look at Prvi Partizan as a good cheap alternative cartridge.

I would be very careful with Tula ammo. Here’s one example:
