Iraqi teenagers stoned to death for "emo" haircuts (Ah, yes, more from the religion of peace!)

At least 90 Iraqi teenagers with "emo" appearances have been stoned to death by religious extremists in Baghdad in the past month after an inflammatory interior ministry statement dubbed it "devil worshiping", activists said.

Iraq's Moral Police released a chilling statement on the interior ministry's website condemning the "emo phenomenon" among Iraqi youth, disturbingly declaring its intent to "eliminate" the trend.

"The 'Emo phenomenon' or devil worshiping is being followed by the Moral Police who have the approval to eliminate [the phenomenon] as soon as possible since it's detrimentally affecting the society and becoming a danger," the statement read.

A group of armed men dressed in civilian clothing led dozens of teenagers to secluded areas a few days ago, stoned them to death, and then disposed their bodies in garbage dumpsters across the capital, according to activists.

“First they throw concrete blocks at the boy's arms, then at his legs, then the final blow is to his head, and if he is not dead then, they start all over again,” one person who managed to escape told Al-Akhbar.

{snip}

"What's most disturbing about this is that they're so young," she said.

The more I read about this kind of thing and these people, the more I am convinced that there are some people who don't deserve the blood that has been shed by some of America's best and brightest (and I fully supported going into Iraq, and have been there), and they obviously won't be able to deal with democracy.

I guess anything is possible in the backward middle-east, but this story is a bit beyond belief.
I would have to see other news sources to buy it.

In other news, there is an "emo" movement in Iraq. "Emo" has nothing inherently "devil worshiping" about it even if that's alleged by the Iraqi clerics. "Emo" is simply a variety of music style and dress that is obtrusively, pessimistically over-dramatic, or Emotional.

If there is any kind of "emo" scene in Baghdad large enough to cause a clerical "backlash" of any kind, that in itself is indicative of a society that has been infected, if you will, by Western ideas of free thinking and rebellion on the part of Iraqi youth against their "betters", the mullahs.

The simple existence of this Iraqi Metal band should be a Message From Baghdad for those who think that Iraqis, having caught the bug of a free and open society, will stand idly by for conversion to the utter tyranny of a theocratic state.

The link says only that “activists” claim over 90 “youths” have been killed.

It makes no attempt to say whether this claim is accurate or not.

I suspect some killings have indeed taken place, but I also suspect the numbers are inflated.

Time to call these barbarians out! They are NOT equal to my religion (or any religion) -—If they have a god its Satan. In my book its up there with the heart cutting Aztecs of old Mexico. We must set a goal to convert them—not attempt to accommodate them.

This cannot possibly be true. Why...my teachers in public school and most politicians tell me that all cultuires are equal and that the moozlums are peaceful. Am I missing something?

They don’t think so. They definitely say that Jesus is the Messiah in the Koran, but He didn’t die on the cross, and Jesus is not the Son of God (even though the Old Testament makes it plain that the Messiah would be God’s Son); and of course, Jesus was a good Muslim that foretold the coming of Muhammad . . . there are other bizarre stories in the Koran, such as Jesus speaking in the cradle . . . and there’s even a whole chapter of the Koran dedicated to Mary . . .

Chalk up another success for “nation-building” in the middle east.

Um... OK. I’ll bite - on what do you base your suspicion that “some killings have indeed taken place”, rather than the number quoted? This is not a troll, but frank curiosity.

Emo? Sorry don't know about it.

But. If they were going after 'Mullets', then maybe I could understand. Those are truly Satan's work.

Can’t imagine what they’d do if they had tatoos & body piercings. Too bad the women don’t seize the weapons & rise up.
