There was an overflow crowd greeting Newt Gingrich when he arrived at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in the southeast corner of Alabama on Saturday.

Looking over the hundreds of people packed into the gallery area and spilling down the steps in the main lobby, Gingrich enthused, "What a crowd. I'm really impressed. There must be no one left at Wal-Mart this afternoon."

“I didn’t sit on the couch with anybody,” Santorum said. “I would only sit on the couch with my wife. Period. No other women — particularly not Nancy Pelosi.”

So that's what the kids called it in Rick's day?

The next 72 hours are crucial to Newt’s campaign, please, everyone, do everything you can for Newt through the weekend and Monday. Making calls is very very important, and today the calls were about 10% more pro-Newt than they were yesterday, and we need to keep building on that.

some of the phoners are exhausted, and even if you just make 10 calls EACH DAY, it would give someone a little break. ......Today the phone banks were jammed, but the weekend is when everyone tends to have other things to do. PLEASE HELP NEWT!!

From Newt 2012: friday

Field and Phone Leaders, CALLING ALL HANDS ON DECK!!
Our national phone team has successfully called through the original 18,000 volunteer sign-ups. This has resulted in a refined list of volunteer prospects for all 50 states. In 3 weeks our national call team has increased by 300%, or 50 new people per week.

Our increased call capacity will help us now begin to make calls into “Super Tuesday” states or those close by that can assist and or deploy to active states.
... YOU CAN NOW CHOOSE THE STATE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CALL
http://newtsnetwork.com/ (click Make the CAll in upper right hand corner)
NOTE: The list filters itself by time zones. It will not show you California at 10am Eastern Time because that is 7am Pacific Time and too early to call there. Once a state’s call list opens up the state name will be added to the dropdown list for you to call. (And in the reverse, Eastern Time Zones will be removed from the list as the night wears on.)

This new reality will enable us to be highly flexible in how we operate and target prospects for GOTV and or volunteer recruitment.

Please disseminate this information to your call teams and volunteer lists.

Thank you

“Rick has paraded his wife and kids out as a personal testament to his supposed unblemished life, while he has continued to make unChristian remarks about Newt’s past.”

EXACTLY.
He’s acting like a disgusting worm. There is not a bit of difference between him and Mitt. They are both sleazy.

I totally disagree that this was a dig at Gingrich’s many marriages and affairs.

What's funny is that for the past fifteen years, Newt has been as happily and faithfully married as either Santorum or romney.

It's a dead issue, people. People can change. Newt did. Get over it. Stop being sanctimonious little holier-than-thous.

“Is anyone sick of this arrogant, phony, baiting little attorney/politician/xsenator?”

Totally sick of him. His surge in popularity has brought out his true colors.

I’m a born again Christian and I don’t want to be lectured to about Christian values by someone who does not even tithe. I already have a pastor that I am happy with, thank you very much. What I want is a leader who can roll back the communist takeover of this great country.

Go Newt!

Nothing to do with condescension, it's because most everything Walmart has to sell is Made In China, Newt wants to start up American Manufacturing.

Ask me how I know, I work at America 4th largest seaport and I know where the containers are coming from and going to.....

Made in the U.S.A. has to make a comeback.

Well, I will say that Newt’s 2nd wife has not fared too well. Sorry about that.

He doesn’t have to STFU to please you. You sound like the leftists after Limbaugh.

As far as I know, at least for now, a person is able to speak their mind.

we live in the woods in CT and there is NOTHING else to do except go to WalMart. It’s not fishing season yet, speedway is still closed-what else is there to do on a Saturday-and it’s the only store in town!
No malls here, Sears left, no movie theatre, and you can only go to CVS and Tractor Supply so many times....so us average Joes actually get what Newt means. We aren’t and never will be the country club type.

I don’t call myself a hillbilly for nothing; I know what I am and am proud of it....WalMart is a form of entertainment here and a place to run into folks.

Both Santorum and Romney. I had been trying to keep an open mind until this election cycle hit Alabama. At the Newt rally today I signed up as a local supporter for whatever they need me to do. Get out there folks, don’t sit back

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE GINGRICH CAMPAIGN RESPONDED TO THE CANDIDATE’S COMMENTS BY TELLING A FOX NEWS PRODUCER QUOTE, “YOU ARE ASSUMING PEOPLE ARE ASHAMED OF SHOPPING AT WAL-MART.”

I agree. I wish all the derogatory comments about Mr. Newt would just stop. I do not like Romney or Santorum for all the right reasons. Mr. Newt is trying very hard to be positive in his speeches, and his ads. Why is it that after Santorum wins a caucus, he comes out disparaging Mr. Newt.

Santorum has such a poor legislative record, he cannot talk about it, except to lie, and to take credit for what Mr. Newt accomplished. He was part of the big-spending compassionate conservatives that ran up an enormous debt and now wants to make believe he is our salvation. Santorum will loose to Obama and so will Romney. Mr. Newt will whip Obama’s ugly butt and shame him back to Illinois where he belongs.

"It was not ABOUT shopping at Walmart versus another store, it was about (the whole crowd) shopping at Walmart for the afternoon versus doing another local ACTVITY. HE sounds like he thinks that's all there is to do in saying what he said, even though it may not be the case that it's what he thinks. And given that Calista outwardly prefers high-end stores (much moreso than the other candidates' wives,) I just think it may have hurt him more than it helped him."

In my experience, women are the ones who want the expensive clothes and jewelry. Men, even those with money, don't care nearly as much about that sort of thing. So I wouldn't judge Newt by Calista's tastes. Maybe she does lust after Tiffany items, and maybe he's glad to buy them for her, but it doesn't mean his tastes are the same.

I'm a Newt supporter, and I shop at our Walmart stores all the time. I'm not offended by what he said.

OK, y’all: I am an occasional WalMart shopper and Mrs. l~ is a Walmart regular.

But I still wouldn’t find that line funny on either side of the Mason-Dixon coming from the lips of any candidate.

I have, Dforest.

The folks against Newt bring up Newt’s past marital disgressions ad nauseum.

Callista has received some very harsh treatment.

Drag racing the carts is OK, it’s the bumper cars that they really frown upon. :-)

FYI I have to use a cart when I shop

Exactly. Newt found Christianity and says he has repented, and has been redeemed. Why don't we believe him?
