I was wearing black years before goth and emos existed. I’m wearing black jeans right now.
Makeup would have bought me a beating back in the 80s though.
Also Iran.
And to think that Bush campaigned on not engaging in “nation-building”. Iraq is a criminal waste of lives and resources.
“Emo” as practiced/defined is “Emotional” IE anything these wastes of life that can come up with to make them sadder, more distraught/suicidal etc is good. The further down the spiral they can get, the ‘happier’ (paradoxically) they are.
It came from a bastardized form of “Goth”. But where Goths generally just keep their cliques and don’t bother anyone, Emos have to drag you down with them. They are mostly bisexual (a ‘plus’ in their world) and if one isn’t, then they are not ‘Emo” enough and ridiculed, which (again paradoxically) they like.
Think of the ultimate masochist in the mental and sexual sense and you have ‘Emo’ in a nutshell...and that shell is nothing BUT nuts.
Why? With all the ritilan and antipsycotics given out like candy for the last 20 years, need one ask? Add in ‘modern hip’ single parent homes and no control over the kids and there you go.
And LOTS of peer pressure.

According to my son (my teen reference), to be emo is now “in”. Seems to me both have similar “lifestyles”... a evolution of sorts. Not to date myself, but when I was in college.. punks were the “fringe” crowd.
What’s funny is that I recently was watching music videos from the 80’s. Remember when all the male singers wore black eyeliner? (I wear a lot of black as well. Not because it looks cool... it makes me look thinner!) It’s heck getting old.
And these are the lucky teens. They don’t have to live their lives in that insane asylum of a country.

After all, his replacement will be hailed as an enlightened and benign leader ~ someone who will advance civilization!
Just like Burqas.
I remember when kids wanted to be individual, now they want to be like Emo.
The only thing that scares me about this is that this is what we are leaving this country to. This is what votes. God help us all.
Stop making so much sense. It’s harder to pigeonhole you as a weirdo when you make so much sense!!!!
The several kids that I knew when they were in elementary school (and became Emo in high school) did come from divorced families. The parents also didn’t have a lot of control. I guess they felt that this was a “stage” of “discovering your identity”. One exception: Mom and Dad pulled her from the school and put her in an all girls, Catholic high school. They also enrolled her in softball. She is a happy, well adjusted 19 year old today.
Think about that one a moment.
They were very practical in an area that rains frequently since they had a quite serviceable canvas outer cover and a plasticized cloth inner liner. A string tie provided closure to keep out dirt and rain, keep papers and books in, and served as a handy carrying strap.
Basically it was a great idea ~ so I BOUGHT ONE.
"They" knew my politics but they became friendly once I had that book bag. I then sold the idea to my even more conservative Catholic friends, and next thing you know the Leftists' costuming was no longer so special or meaningful.
After I moved on to better things I heard that there was a massive wave of GREEN BOOK BAG users hit the campus ~
One guy can overturn a totalitarian tyranny ~ at least over the use of GREEN BOOK BAGS.
"Hurt me," said the masochist.
"No," smiled the sadist.
Obama must be proud.
He’s all into human rights and all that....
Avoid them.
