Australia: Common sense to become law

Face must be visible on ID pic...

Common sense dictates there's no better form of positive identification as actually showing your face.

Signing official documents, obtaining a driver's license, or for those who require a Military ID Card...

The reason for the photograph on the identification card need not be explained, per basic common sense.

As reported by Australia's The Daily Telegraph, the Aussie state of New South Wales has been forced to legalize common sense.

The Burqa Conundrum...

The Carnita Matthews Case in Australia hit the headlines last year when the 50-ish Australian convert-to-Islam was stopped by a policeman and given a random breath-test.

The Aussie copper booked the burqa-clad Matthews for improperly displaying her "P-Plates", Australian Provisional license plates, which warn other drivers that the operator is an inexperienced driver.

Reportedly, Matthews responded:

"You look at me and see me wearing this and you couldn’t handle it,” she screamed, pointing at the burqa covering her face.

All cops are racist … I’ll take you to court."

Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't, Aussie-Style...

Two days later, a burqa-wearing woman identifying herself as Carnita Matthews arrived at the local police station and signed an official complaint claiming the police officer had tried to tear off her veil.

That’s good because Doctors in America have been removing the common sense gene at birth for the past 50 years...at least that’s what it looks like when you look around these days.

SI know this is supposed to be ironic, but when I was on a tour in Turkey, a couple from Saudi Arabia asked me to take a picture of them in front of a tourist site. She was clad from head to tow in a burka.

It’s a burial shroud: if you’re wearing it, you are actually dead.

It’s a burial shroud: if you’re wearing it, you are spiritually dead.

Matthews was jailed for six months for making a false statement, but later, she was cleared of all charges when a judge said he was "not satisfied it was she who handed in the false complaint, since the police hadn’t asked her to show her face."

As reported by The Daily Telegraph:

"Attorney-General Greg Smith said yesterday the case highlighted the need for change and the new laws, to begin on April 30, would minimise the risk of fraud. 'They will require authorised witnesses, such as JPs [Justice of the Peace] and lawyers, to see a person's face and confirm their identity before signing their statutory declaration or affidavit,' Mr Smith said.

The new law even had to specify what types of coverings must be removed:

The new laws cover the witnessing of legally binding documents including statutory declarations and affidavits and include all face coverings including motorcycle helmets, masks, veils, scarves, niqabs and balaclavas.

The JP or lawyer will also have to certify in writing on the documents that they have seen the person's face and have confirmed their identity through documents including a driver's licence.

"They face a fine of $220 for lying."

Some, including myself, have been arguing for the introduction of above laws for the past 3 yrs at least.. better late than never!

For the burqa-wearing ones, I should think an Islamic punishment would be more in line with their Islamic beliefs... you know, they apparently cut off fingers and hands for stealing in certain moslem countries such as S. Arabia and Islamic Republic of Iran. Obviously we are more civilised in the West..

In Iran, for instance, the Islamic regime and their minions (aka morality police) force women to wear the hejab, arrest, fine or jail them if they don't, and even measure the sleeves of a long coat on women if they appear not long enough to fully cover the wrist.. I have even heard of cases where they throw acid on women...

In the West, the same A'holes demand they should be free to walk around wearing a black tent, and then lodge dubious complaints about the police and its so-called 'brutality!

Do we see an obvious pattern w/ these Islamic walking-tents?
