For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
In your knowledge of public relations WE ARE AT WAR I do not give
damn about public relations just like the other side does NOT. WE are
past the point of public relations!!!! THEY HAVE NONE AND THEY ARE
WINNING!!!!!
Not a chance.
Rush gave up all credibility to speak on this subject when he admitted something he already said about it was wrong.
Well, those that see Rush as some sort of leader or adviser or seer are very naive. Rush is a entertainer, more so he is a businessman running a business for $$$. That is his priority. I have found Rush very inconsistent in the messages he sends from show to show. To enjoy him you must forget things he said a year or two ago.
From what some of the guests and paid commentators were reporting on MSNBC Friday and maybe Thursday, a number of sponsors >5 pulled their advertising off of Rush's show. Those inside the bubble probably didn't know that.
Rush is just a sideshow, the main show is that Republicans are on a consistent losing streak against Obama since taking back the House, And I am not optimistic about them breaking it.
I figure it’s not so much the money as fear of leftists. That’s why he won’t touch fag “rights” or the fact that a usurper is in the WH. For starters. He’s afraid to go off the reservation. Plus he may have no interest in going off the reservation.
Amazing to watch all of the “Conservative” keyboard warriors tuck their tail and turn on Rush isn’t it?
They’re about as loyal as a slut, truly ironic.
DITTO!!!DITTO!!!!
This post gives support to your assertion that “God bestowed upon us the gift of sex in order that we might multiply. God is cheated and His will is defiled by the use of contraceptives.” You made a good point.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2854103/posts
Such a valid point.
It is such a valid point that it bears repeating again!
I wonder what was in the package he recieved Thursday. I wonder if it included a letter too.
Fine. We are at war. Who are you going to shoot first?
“How does the cost make her a “slut, tart, tramp”? It’s not like one needs to take more birth control if they’re having more sex; doesn’t work like that. Her remarks about the cost make her a liar, sure, but not a slut.”
You’re correct in that I’m assuming cost has some relationship to frequency of need - if she taking the pill continuously over a three-year period, but seldom having sex, I guess it’s probably more fair to impugn the extent to which her expectations match reality, rather than question what was once quaintly referred to as one’s “virtue”.
She’s the one who chose to make her sex life my business (by testifying about it in Congress, and by demanding others pay for her personal choices), but since I don’t really give a rip about her sex life, I’ll agree I really shouldn’t have expected her to clarify if she’s continually active, or just wants to be safe and prepared whatever the occasion. But again, she’s the one who brought it up; some speculation in that matter should hardly be unexpected.
Amen. Only one way I can see it going onward.
May God Bless those who are fighting for righteneous, to sustain our great country.Onward Christian soldiers. May the evil go to their dwelling place, and we triumph!
Rush sold his soul for money. He was losing sponsors left and right He’s a moral coward and I’ll never listen to him again. I truly hope he just fades away- quickly.
Don’t know why people here think they have a say in what RL does. He didn’t have to call her a slut, or apologize. He made his own decisions each time.
Fact is this was a great issue and he totally derailed it. No one knows the woman is a slut, she’s a priviliged leftist activist and the issue was her demanding free pills, and lying, the issue wasn’t her being a slut.
Hopefully the issue remains. I think it does.
And I have no problem with the man doing that. He's making a killing and I say more power to him. He's found his groove.
Having said that, I'm not going to live and die by his every word like some demented sycophant who doesn't realize that the man is doing nothing more than running a successful business.
Good night. You deserve far less.
it isn’t just about frequency.
She is not married.
According to the catholic teaching, she is requesting they finance fornication.
She doesn’t just think they should finance it....she is accusing them of cruelty and sexism if they do not finance it.
It is brazen arrogance which she attempts to hide under a mask of helplessness and mock injury.
She did not say a single word about her sex life. In fact, the vast majority of her testimony concerned the use of contraceptives for purposes other than preventing pregnancy. Of course, she's exaggerating that need, but that just makes her a dumb liberal activist liar. Not a slut.
Did the slut/whore/whackjob Fluke except Rush’s apology?
- - - - - -
Fluke, then the treasurer of Students Acting for Gender Equality (SAGE), told The Cornell Daily Sun during a protest of a pro-life display at the schools Ho Plaza

This stuff just writes itself !
I don't listen anymore ---I really can't listen to any of the mainstream guys or gals) anymore for this very reason.
“Rush sold his soul for money. He was losing sponsors left and right Hes a moral coward and Ill never listen to him again. I truly hope he just fades away- quickly.”
Not surprised to see that response - it is however a reality that you don’t stay on the radio without sponsors. Now if anyone believes enough in Rush’s original statement to pick up the funding of his radio program so that he wouldn’t have to walk it back, more power to them.
But without sponsors Rush quickly turns into “Air America” in terms of staying power - lot of good that does anyone.
I think he’ll get by without your listenership.
Up yours noob.
We ain’t melting down here because of something papertyger said....
We have a name for those who “stay loyal” to those who betray loyalty.
They’re called “idiots.”
Precisely. The self-righteousness practically oozes off the computer screen.
"cancelled" meaning dropped from that station....to be picked up by the competing station the next day.
Yes this distracted from 1) the sad state of affairs in which Fluke believes she's entitled to free contraception, which is probably why he apologized, and 2) more on the credentials of this woman. It's sounding like she's an embedded 30 yr. old activist....in other words, a fraud. I want more attention paid there.
she isn’t married....at the very least, she is a fornicator.
Certainly...most young people are fornicators - but most do not appear before our elected officials demanding their fornication to be financed by the taxpayer.
As another FReeper pointed out...young college men are usually so eager to fornicate, they are more than willing to front the cost.
Most fornicators simply keep it to themselves.
Not this babe...she is saying to a catholic organization...”to hell with your silly teaching. You must finance our fornication or we will accuse you of being negligent, uncaring misogynists!”
This is absolutely despicable.
No woman in my life would ever behave like this - and it makes me cringe when these morons are so bold as to claim they speak for all women.
That sound you here is Kos calling you back....
Yes and I didn’t make the rules.
He can’t survive one weekend without those particular sponsors?
Having said that, I'm not going to live and die by his every word like some demented sycophant who doesn't realize that the man is doing nothing more than running a successful business.
How can I best say amen? You're totally right and that's why I posted the lines from Lowry Mays. His honesty about the business was a breath of fresh air when it came out in 2003. Like Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall) said in The Godfather, "...this is business not personal."
We're all trying to make an honest buck and Rush Limbaugh has certainly excelled in that regard. Plus, he's created a number of jobs with his wealth.
I think that captions his apology perfectly.
Come on, people. Rush has a boss. He was forced to do this. The lawyers showed him how he was in violation of contract (I don’t know his contract but it could be something as simple as a behavior clause) and rush had no choice.
In la we just had John and ken off the air for 2 weeks, because John called Whitney a crack ho.
Rush isn’t a wimp. It’s not his choice. But he needs to stay on the air.
The Left didn’t win this one. Rush exposed the slut for a complete phony and her agenda as completely manufactured for the President. The Left won the skirmish over an apology, but not the larger battle over the Obama Administration’s maneuver to use the slut to advance their agenda of winning back women who have abandoned the Prez.
His brother now comes out out tweeting damage control. Rush, just retire. CAVE!
Here,here!
He’s a coward. Just like the rest.
So let me get this straight. As long as Rush sells his soul to appease his sponsors, he’ll be able to stay on the air so he can...um..sell his soul to appease his sponsors. Good plan there, Socrates.
Well, EXCUSE ME, for asking for clarification of what it was that you meant.
(I actually do get nasty sometimes with people who offend me, but I don't think you had done this prior to this post of yours. I'm a bit surprised.)
ML/NJ
We (the good guys) have to be realistic and rational about the times we are living in. We all know that the left can call conservatives every and any name in the book with no consequences because the libs own the media. Conservatives can not. Until VIA elections we stack the deck once again in our favor we have to choose our battles and live to fight another day. We’ve already lost Brietbart, Coulter is a nutcase now, we really can’t afford to lose Rush too. What he did was diffuse a worsening situation. Better that than let this slut keep gaining more and more exposure and letting the left control the debate. They wanted an apology. Fine they got one. Now what? If they keep beating the drum it will only hurt them.
It was IMO a half-assed apology anyway. He did only as Mich as he had to to get this shit over with.
We have bigger battles to fight. We have to win elections and fundamentallly change the damage that has been done. Then apologies won’t be necessary.
“Without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school. For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, thats practically an entire summers salary. Forty percent of female students at Georgetown Law report struggling financially as a result of this policy...
...In the media lately, conservative Catholic organizations have been asking: what did we expect when we enrolled at a Catholic school? We can only answer that we expected women to be treated equally, to not have our school create untenable burdens that impede our academic success. We expected that our schools would live up to the Jesuit creed of cura personalis, to care for the whole person, by meeting all of our medical needs. We expected that when we told our universities of the problems this policy created for students, they would help us. We expected that when 94% of students opposed the policy, the university would respect our choices regarding insurance students pay for completely unsubsidized by the university, especially when the university already provides contraceptive coverage to faculty and staff. We did not expect that women would be told in the national media that if we wanted comprehensive insurance that met our needs, not just those of men, we should have gone to school elsewhere, even if that meant a less prestigious university. We refuse to pick between a quality education and our health, and we resent that, in the 21st century, anyone thinks its acceptable to ask us to make this choice simply because we are women.”
No, she did NOT say, “I personally need $1000/year for my sex.” However, when she says “WE” and “LIKE ME”, the implication is that her testimony is personal.
You can disagree if you wish, but perhaps Rush’s apology should have been, “I need to apologize to Ms Fluke. She never said SHE needed $1000/year for sex - just that 40% of Georgetown female students do. Apparently, it isn’t Ms Fluke who needs lots of sex, but nearly half of Georgetown’s female students. She merely implied she was one of those with ‘needs’!”
You wrote: “If someone NEEDS sex 1,000+ times a year, what are they? presumes $1.00/birth control/horizontal bop which I think remains to be shown...”
See here:
At 33 cents/condom, I arguably underestimated the NEEDS of the Georgetown sluts. I sincerely doubt most men use more than 3 condoms/sex act...
Of course, what Fluke was arguing was that birth control pills - name brand, not the $9/month no-name variety - are essential for women’s health, and that it is such an essential need that other people need to pay the bill. And I think it is obvious that Fluke KNEW her testimony was misleading:
“You might respond that contraception is accessible in lots of other ways. Unfortunately, thats not true. Womens health clinics provide vital medical services, but as the Guttmacher Institute has documented, clinics are unable to meet the crushing demand for these services. Clinics are closing and women are being forced to go without.”
She knew damn well that birth control pills ARE available for free or at very minimal cost.
Well said.
Not at all. Rush knew what a Saturday afternoon apology would do. He’s just another “snake oil” salesman.
LOL
You know what the difference is between limbaugh and maher? The entire media is owned by the liberal leftist cabal. No one cares if palin is called the c word. But rush must be silenced.
Do you know any f’ing other American who has his mail x rayed daily??? For good reason??
Sorry to swear. I’m upset.
