Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, coming off his primary wins in Arizona and Michigan, has jumped to a 16-point lead over Rick Santorum in the battle for the Republican presidential nomination. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters shows Romney with 40% support to 24% for the former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania. This is Romney's biggest lead to date and the highest level of support any GOP candidate has earned in regular surveying of the race.

Stupid Stupid GOP. You should have watched the glee that Fox News and even Rasmussen was portraying while explaining the results. It was disgusting. The only reason I had Fox on was because of Andrew’s death but I have since turned it off once I saw the adoration and relief that Romney was so far ahead.....completely repulsive.

Looks like Santorum’s Democrat “cross over” stupidity, has backfired on him big time. (He learned that from his big buddy, Arlen Specter)

I can only hope the they are are wrong about Newt's internals and that Newt can stage an upset on Super “T”!

GO NEWT!

Looks like the GOP-E might get their candidate. This is very, very scary because Romney will most likely lose the general. I cannot believe that 40% of GOP voters are willing to support a liberal just because he has an R after his name.

That's the problem with the Lemming mentality of this current base. They stampede recklessly, in all directions, without thinking or researching their actions first.

We never should have left Newt in the first place. Now we are being forced to face the outcome of that “fickle” Santorum stupidity.

Like Iowa we have another fake victory being headlined for Mittens. Iowa was in all reality a tie, look at the delegates.

You are in serious denial. Rasmussen merely reports the facts. You have a problem with the reality you helped create. It’s simple, really.

Face it folks, they are not going to deny Romney the nomimation. Those two wins and voila, two days later everyone loves Mitt. It’s easy!

The media and the elites just play whack-a-mole if anyone else rises.

Romney is the one who favored open primaries. Perhaps you didn't hear

Santorum won the votes cast on primary day it was the early voting, from before Ricks 3-state sweep, that threw it to Mittens.

The GOP Sheeple are back. Let’s just hope that the state polls below don’t change much. If people are going to vote for Mitt just because they want to vote for a winner; they deserve the hope and change they have coming to them.

Real Clear Politics Avg.
Georgia
Mar 6 (76)
Gingrich +9.0

Ohio
Mar 6 (66)
Santorum +8.3

Tennessee
Mar 6 (58)
Santorum +19.5

Oklahoma
Mar 6 (43)
Santorum +20.5

The media has done a job on Newt first and now Santorum. Newt was called a crybaby, crazy, zany, someone with road rage, too much baggage and now Drudge calls him Lazarus. Santorum is being painted as a social issues guy who is radially religious and plans to shove his morals down America’s throats. Women probably fear he will stop abortions on day one. Romney is getting propped up until he is the nominee. Then he will get thumped by the media and Obama and by then he will have spent most of his money bashing our guys.

It wasn’t just the Dem “crossover” stunt that hurt Santorum. He helped to sink his own ship with some of the stupid comments he’s made recently. Plus, more voters have become aware of his mixed voting record while in office (support for pro-union measures, etc).

Add all of the above to the negative ads Mitt, Inc. has been running against him, and the result is toast.

The media and the elites just play whack-a-mole if anyone else rises.

GREAT analogy! Someone should put out an ad with Karl Rove, Romney, and the rest taking turns whacking down our candidates.

Perry pops up/whack! Cain pops up/whack! on down the line. Perfect!

It wasn't The MSM that took Newt down, it was Romney and the Super PAC funded GOPE. Your need to blame something for it, belongs to them. And also, the fundamental instability of the new “conservative” base, who kept chasing their tails for the “not Romney” candidate, and completely ignored and purposely misunderstood the only candidate who could fix this economy and mentally humiliate Obama. (Newt Gingrich of course!)

The time for blame is pretty much gone, along with our best chances in saving this country. It was far more important to pick a divisive social conservative with the same popularity level with the general public, as John Bolton.

There is no shortage of who to blame for why this has unfolded the way it has. Some of us tried to warn you, and your refusal to listen and understand, went on without regard. No, this outcome, clearly belongs to you and you only.
