Santorum campaign hoping for help from Gingrich
St. Louis Today ^ | March 1, 2012 | AP

Short on money and staff, Rick Santorum needs help to remain a viable threat to front-runner Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. One strategist hopes it will come from another rival, Newt Gingrich.

Top adviser John Brabender says Santorum's future may depend upon Gingrich leaving the race. The former House speaker is showing no signs of bowing out, certainly not before next week's Super Tuesday voting.

LOL, tell Rick to get some union volunteers to raid the phonebook for dead people and hit the ballot boxes for him.

“We have two fine candidates who aren’t visionaries,” he said of both Romney and Santorum. “One of them runs around saying he’s a manager. And the other goes around saying he’s essentially a very fine traditional big-government union conservative, who voted against right-to-work, and voted for every single minimum-wage increase the unions wanted. But neither of them offers bold changes.”

->>If we could ever make this where we have all the conservatives and tea party supporters behind us as one candidate against Mitt Romney, we'll win the nomination,” Brabender said Wednesday

Not going to happen. Newt's supporters are inspired by Newt's strong message of reforms to solutions. Ricky was used for awhile to divide the votes (he never saw it coming or either got caught in the, “I might could win” scenario). Newt's turn to stop Romney.

The MSM is trying to give Santorum a boost with this column (it’s hitting all the outlets right now). They’re hoping to put pressure on Newt and begin a chorus for him to quit. It is an amazingly long, positive AP story about Santorum and his campaign — but the headline is the story the AP wants read.

Newt let Santorum have his Romney rumble in Michigan (too bad he spent his money there and is now scrambling). Newt has been focusing his resources on the South. It is hardly honorable to ask him to back down. It really shows Santorum’s weakness going into right to work territory.

Well I understand the Newt bashing. But for me its one more he is not ready.

Never Show the Enemy(mittens) your back is against the wall and your out of breath. Who knows he may be in worst shape.

Reminds me of McCain when he new he was beaten. Suspending his campaign so him and Obammy could have a sit down with George Bush.

If Rick goes head to head with bambi, Axelrod/Soros and the RAT media will have him painted up like the Church Lady peddling bibles door to door. It will be a slaughter. Guaranteed. Trust me on this.

Exactly - while Newt is advancing - elevating his strong message, as well as pushing back hard against Romney’s tactics.

Brabender is 100% correct.

I think, even after freaky cult member and future god of his own little planet, Willard Romney tries to buy the Washington caucus with a million or so, Rick squeaks by with a 4-5 point win there with enough of those Reagan Dems playing a roll on Sat and then ...

Rick goes on to a super Super Tuesday winning in Alaska, N. Dakota, Tennessee, Ohio, and Oklahoma with some Reagan Dem help.

And pretty strong seconds for Rick in Georgia (to Newt***) and in the three Willard states of Mormon Idaho, Socialist Vermont, and Taxachusetts.

It’s a shame about Virginia though with the establishment blocking Rick and Newt from the ballot.

***I concede that Newt will win Georgia with the state establishment’s backing there.

But he won’t win by enough to stay relevant nationally, imho.

Without the conservative vote split, RICK “The Working Man’s Friend” Santorum has an excellent chance to be OUR nominee in Tampa. Woo hoo!

Gingrich won't drop out. Even if he did, that wouldn't get much more money or staff for Santorum, if any. The news/propaganda piece appears to be an effort for Romney/Obama.

They sure will. Matt Lauder began it the day before yesterday. It will not work because Newt’s supporters are energized. Palin will be on Greta tonight. It will be very interesting in what she will say about the race and the candidates. This past weekend, when she was on the Palin radio on the web; she told the candidates to take on the establishment/to change things with bold solutions. She also said to her base (”Don’t worry, I have your back!”)

Nothing wrong with the CONSERVATIVE’S CHOICE, RICK shockingly tying Willard the Liberal in Michigan ... 15-15 in delegates.

It actually forced Willard’s camp to pay about a half million PER DELEGATE!

THAT’S KIND OF EMBARRASSING. Ya think?

Watch for Willard to dip into his personal funds again as in 2008. That worked out sooooooooooooo well last cycle.

Not.

No one raised more funds than Santorum in February. And I really doubt that Newt funders and staff will desert conservatism by becoming Willard funders and staff in March (and going forward) when Newt drops out to endorse Santorum.

This will only HELP Newt’s fellow conservative, Rick.

Sure won’t hurt.

“RICK shockingly tying Willard the Liberal in Michigan”.

Those are 15 delegates in the Bag for Non-Mittens.

Yes you got me I wish it was Newt Vs Santorum. Fiscal Conservative Vs Social Conservative.

My point was FL was a money trap for Newt and MI was a money trap for Santorum. Luckily Santorum salvaged a split.

If he was in fact low on Funds. Fake MI and go Directly to the Super Tuesday states. Mittens cannot afford to lose MI he has to spend whatever it takes to win MI.

Both Newt & Santorum have been Burned by the Polls and Mittens war chest. Fight Smarter not Harder is my point for both Candidates.

And remember, Newt won more counties in FL than did Mitt but it was winner take all by majority vote -- which Mitt won by taking major population centers.

Something strange happened...last night I caught the end of talk radio’s Dennis Miller show and the current guest was S.E. Cupp. I was on a brief work break and only heard a snippet, but she said that, although she is an
ATHIEST, she just loves Santorum.

Miller was using that as his “hook” to interest the listener, but I don’t know how she expanded on that as I had to leave it.

Don’t know who Miller supports, but that struck me as odd.

Oh, anything is possible in this curiouser and curiouser world...an athiest for Santorum, sure...but the point is she was giddy over Santorum while many people are knocking him for going overboard on the religion and social issues, and she’s an announced athiest.

Looks like she and Miller were trying to blunt that as an issue that some have against Santorum...the “he’s a religious zealot trying to run your life” kind of meme

She was on there to say, don’t worry, I don’t even believe in God and I’m crazy about Rick.
