Mitt Romney spoke to several empty seats Friday in Detroit, in a speech that offered Democrats more fodder for their attacks and failed to deliver the major economic address his campaign promised.
Television cameras showed rows of empty chairs as Romney rehashed many of the policies and quips he’d used in previous speeches, made a few jokes that appeared to fall flat with the audience and said that his wife, Ann, drives “a couple of Cadillacs,” which will likely give Democrats more ammunition for their depiction of him as rich and out of touch.
The former Massachusetts governor also repeated a line that has been the butt of jokes by late-night comedians — that Michigan has good-sized trees.
“This feels good, being back in Michigan,” he said. “The trees are the right height. The streets are just right.”
Romney then listed the various cars he and his wife own.
“I drive a Mustang and Chevy pickup truck,” he said. “Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs, actually. I used to have a Dodge truck, so I used to have all three [Detroit manufacturers] covered.”

No-one is talking about his making money? This whole thread is talking about how he spends and “flaunts” his money fool. I don’t like Romney, I very much support Santorum. Difference between us is that my dislike of someone will not cause me to trample the basic tenants of Conservatism. You’re right, my liberalism caused me to first enlist and then keeps me reenlisting....good one guy.

I don’t like Romney either, I see the same “Can’t we just get along” as far as the Obamites are concerned and policy compromises I saw with McCain. That’s why I tend to Newt, in spite of the 24/7 hate reporting the MSMerde will levy at him.
The comments found re the republicans that are made in this site are better suited to Ed Schultz’s MSNBC Show (oh god, doesn’t he look like a toad) or the Obama Lavatory Wall.

I agree, who cares how many cars he buys. If I was as successful as Romney, I would buy myself and my family what they need, and what they want.
They have a big family, I would guess that she has a car for herself and an SUV when the family comes along. We do the same thing, except we own Toyota and Dodge.
Leave it alone, let them spend. The shame would be if they make all this money and are too tight to spend. Then you could complain.

Ann says, “Yes, lovey. As you say.” and she turned back to watching the maid polish the silverware.
The day comes when Mitt bites the dust. After a big funeral, just as they’re closing the lid on the coffin, Ann pulls out her checkbook, and drops a hastily scrawled check onto Mitt’s folded hands.
“As you say, lovey.”

Something does not sound right. My prediction is that Santorum is going to shock the political world on Tuesday night.
