Adelson makes new ‘sizeable’ contribution to pro-Gingrich super PAC (Confirmed!)

Washington (CNN) – Casino mogul and major Republican donor Sheldon Adelson made an expected new contribution this week to the super PAC supporting Newt Gingrich, Winning Our Future, CNN has learned.

One source familiar with Adelson’s donation described it as “sizeable.” Two sources said the Nevada businessman made the contribution recently.

The sources would not speak on the record because Adelson wanted his contribution to be private.

CNN reported last week Adelson was expected to contribute as much as an additional $10 million to the super PAC. A great majority of the funding for Winning Our Future has come from Adelson and his extended family. Adelson, his wife and their extended family have donated $11 million to the organization.

The sources would not specify the exact amount of the donation.

A spokesman for Adelson could not be reached for comment.

A spokesman for Winning Our Future, Rick Tyler, refused to comment on whether Adelson made a new donation.

Thanks to the new influx of money, the organization will have far greater resources to help boost Gingrich in some of the primaries and caucuses voting on March 6th, Super Tuesday.

The organization is expected to disclose as early as Monday its plans for advertising in those states. Gingrich is campaigning hard in several of those contests in hopes to keeping his campaign alive.

In the new edition of Forbes Magazine, the multi-billionaire defended himself against critics of his contributions.

“Those people are either jealous or professional critics,” Adelson said, adding “They like to trash other people. It’s unfair that I’ve been treated unfair—but it doesn’t stop me. I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.”

Adelson’s worth is estimated at $25 billion.

I hope they use the newly acquired funds to get short messages from him to reach a wide audience, talking about the issues and ideas. The messages should be in short, bite size modules, as people have short attention spans and memories.

If they can get help from Sarah Palin and her team, those guys do an excellent job with their political ads.

*****************

I have a sense that Gov Palin is dying to jump on board this energy issue- and I’d bet the house she and Newt have talked about Sec of Energy.

But, wt Rick doing well, she can’t take sides, imo./

Although, along your line of thought, I was thinking the other day- perhaps she could finesse an involvement with Newt on energy-w/o actually endorsing him.

In video he looks like a President should look. Then he opens his mouth and out comes brilliance.

NO WAY can Mitt, Rick or RP give a speech like that. I don’t think they thought out ANY plan out. Just generalities - like ‘I’m the best one to, ‘I’m the only and ‘The gov’t should be out of it’.

I think there is something wrong w/Mitt’s speech pattern. He sounds jittery when he talks and nothing ever intelligent comes out of him. Remember when asked what conservative thing have you done and his response was I have 5 children and married for ‘x’ amount of years!

GO NEWT!!

Romney spending, spending, spending millions and he still don't have traction. rofl. It's just money, think what he would do with our taxpayer money, it's just money.

Poor baby, he just don't have the "IT" factor and Piers Morgan might say.

One thing that NEWT needs to get. A PEP in his STEP. He needs to walk on stage as if he owned it, which he does. Walk out peppy and happy to be there, own it.

Good post. I love how Newt is fearless in turning the media’s craven questions around and sticking it to them.

I think he does that in this Oklahoma one. I’m about 20 minutes in and he’s doing great, very confident presentation, and a lot of funny lines I hadn’t heard before. I keep expecting to see Newt settle into a standard stump speech but every one of these I watch seems to be mostly new material. There are some intros, then Newt comes out about 6 minutes in. The crowd looks enormous, going up to the rafters.

At 21:50 you can see how enormous the crowd is as the camera pans through.

I saw that FIRST HAND, front row. Was a great evening and NEWT was great as usual.

Had 3 young men sitting next to me, did not know until after that they were Democrats. Should have suspected as they never clapped, and one told me he was interested in the environment. I held my tongue on that one, if I had know he was a democrat yut, I would have let him have it.

Still, NEWT needs to put some PEP in his walk, would help with those that think he is to old, to stuffy, etc. Get his giddy up going.

Speaking of crowds. It was released by the press that Romne had to rent a huge stadium for a speech today. Recently saw a picture. Lots and lots of empty seats. No one sitting in the stadium and most of seats on floor empty. Think Romney's MI support has been exaggerated.

Goes back to the same old story:
