DALLAS, Texas - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum said Thursday that President Obama wants more young adults to go to college so they can undergo "indoctrination" to a secular world view.
In an hour-long interview with conservative television host Glenn Beck, Santorum also defended his record on abortion and his vote in favor of President George W. Bush's No Child Left Behind education law.
On the president's efforts to boost college attendance, Santorum said, "I understand why Barack Obama wants to send every kid to college, because of their indoctrination mills, absolutely ... The indoctrination that is going on at the university level is a harm to our country."
He claimed that "62 percent of kids who go into college with a faith commitment leave without it," but declined to cite a source for the figure. And he floated the idea of requiring universities that receive public funds have "intellectual diversity" on campus.

He is so bold and honest. Every FREEPER says the same thing and should applaud him for saying this. What a wonderful principled person. So refreshing. Even last night, he was so honest and forthcoming. It is rare to get such a moral individual running for President. Can you imagine watching President Santorum at the Swearing In ceremony. He would take every word in that pledge seriously and mean it.

Sure, I think most all of us agree that he is right. Still, it’s a really stupid thing to say in the middle of an election, since he should have foreseen how bad this would look once it got spinned.
Not that I’m opposed to a candidate who is willing to take on the media and speak on topics that liberals want to make taboo. I just think, if you are going to do that, you need to do it with more finesse than this.
lol. The MSM doesn’t even pretend any more.
You can tell what Republican is doing well just by seeing who the MSM is attacking that day.
State alone would need a major housecleaning and there would be plenty of open positions for conservatives why we would have to hire droves from right here within Free Republic. How I would love turning this failing, dying Republic around. Under a President Santorum, believe me it could happen. It would be Reagan Revolution Version II.
Pretty much what I've seen in my parish.
College is the turning point for turning away.

I’m going to have to second your post.
Compare this to Newt’s swings today on Afghanistan and energy.
I like both Rick and Newt, but I’d much rather have Newt in the ring for 10 rounds with Obama.
Crazy nuts.
Good words, my friend, indeed I did read it and enjoyed it thoroughly.
As for me, come November? I desire the clearest fiscal, moral, cultural and spiritual difference and differentiation available between Baraq Hussein and his Republican Opponent for 2012. If we must have it out in America, we must have it out. Full out. I base this on what the American Founding Fathers had in mind for our Republic, how far the country truly has strayed, and how it will take Bold Courage and Total Commitment to Christ Jesus to ever take it back to even a shadow of its previous greatness. I do not say that lightly. It might grate on the ears of libertines, libertarians, moderates or atheists/agnostics here on FR, but so be it. We are indeed in a cultural war, between Light and Dark, and the American People should be allowed a clear choice to choose between the two. Let the chips fall where they may in their response. We are but on a revolving and rotating small pebble (planet Earth) in the larger universe of God's things, our lives here on borrowed time in a foreign land in the first place, they are over and done with for good within a relative blink of an eye in a cosmic sense, so I would rather have the right and prudent choice available, accordingly make it come whatever larger outcome, and then be individually responsible for it later when judged on that inevitable day.
Freepers, read the Declaration of Independence and the Preamble to the US Constitution, then go outside, stare out at the dark, star filled night sometime without any distractions, and ponder this larger reality of our universe, and our place in it, and our mission and calling assigned by our Creator, our obligation to do good in all things and fight evil and darkness and oppression. Or just watch your kids or grandkids play for 20 minutes or so without saying a thing, and think of what kind of world you want to hand over to them: a blind world, or a sold-outmilquetoast world, or a moral world of virtues valued (three choices).
Making a statement that gives a soundbite to the Obama campaign to make the majority of Americans think you are a lunatic, when that is exactly what they have been attempting to do to you for weeks, is not bold and refreshing, it’s just plain dumb. I’m sorry if you that doesn’t compute.
While this is indeed the case, he probably should have waited until after the inauguration to explain it to the many Americans who think college is all serious education.
