Present and waiting impatiently for Sunday! That first duel today was a good race warm-up though.

North wind came through here about 4 this morning and is still blowing. Breezy up your way or did it go around?

Thanks for the ping Norm.

Can't wait for Sunday!

Nascar sure buggered up these cars. Did you hear some of the water temps during the duels? Holy cow!

Mooo Moo on that one..

Nascar just can’t stop tinkering .. the water temp and JJ’s supposed bum body part .. they’ve made a joke of the sport.

Another day headed toward 75 here.. may get some showers next week .. we’re at 27% of normal.. I think it’s all the chemtrail spraying down here .. 8-}

Danica was practicing in her backup car .. seems to be fine after the whack she gave the wall in her Duel race.

Trucks tonight,
Nationwide tomorrow,
The Big Wreck Sunday.

Danica hits the wall hard yesterday in the last lap. Notice in the last clip from the inside camera how she braces for impact.

I’d rather her hit the wall like that in a REAL CAR instead of one of those IRL things...

So excited for her and her team. An example of perseverance and talent, rising above the Good Ole Boys network.

OW folks tend to avoid holding the steering wheel in a crash because there’s nasty mechanical feedback through the steering as the wheel(s) impact the wall and likely broken arm/hand. The full body on a stock car makes that less likely.

My cynical side wants to say she got the “good” restrictor plate for quals. But I won’t, LOL.

Those new cars for 2013 got them a nearly full page story in the WSJ today. (The newspaper that the guys who write the sponsor checks read.)

"OW folks tend to avoid holding the steering wheel in a crash..."

yeah, I heard that on the commentary. I never knew it before and I was impressed with the discipline it must take to do that. You can talk and talk about emergency procedures but when the shit hits the fan things change and instincts take over.

I did early spring time high altitude trail maintenance with the parks service and they taught us to stand our ground and make ourselves big if we encountered bears on the trail. Someone asked the instructor if he had come across bears coming out of hibernation and what he did. He said he ran like hell. :-)

I don't know how many times Danica has crashed, but I give her credit. I give all of them credit. Any sport at it's highest level is a proof of talent, dedication and an innate ability gene the rest of us didn't get.
