Surf. Sun. Disneyland. Whats not to love about California?
Well, apparently, a lot of things. In a poll released Tuesday by the Public Policy Polling, California was the least popular state in the United States. Only 27 percent of Americans hold a favorable view of the Golden State compared to the 44 percent who view it unfavorably.
Theres this arrogance about Californians, said Patrick Dorinson, a radio host in California who refers to himself as the Cowboy Libertarian. Californians still think its this great star. Its a tarnished star at this point.
The gap of 17 points puts California far behind Illinois (19 favorable, 29 not) and New Jersey (25 favorable, 32 not) as the least liked state in America.
Im actually quite surprised California fared so poorly, said Albert M. Camarillo, a professor of history at Stanford University. I think the national public knows of our difficult budget situation, our higher than average unemployment rate, the still very expensive housing market.
The Left Coast is distinct in another way more people have an opinion about California than any other state only 28 percent of respondents couldnt decide whether they liked the state or not.

Sorry but...........BWAHAHA! Well deserved.
I would like to see Texas leave the union and be on our own, but if that can’t happen, next best would be to vote Kalifornica out of the union.
I have a reason for disliking California: I spent 50 years there and despite everything I tried to do to prevent it, the place slipped slowly into total disarray and debasement.
That professor must live in a really nice house in Scotts Valley.
I don’t like any state that won’t let me have all my guns.
Hmmm . . . let me think.
1 -Spreads cultural rot across the country through Hollyweird
2 - Is beyond bankrupt
3 - (Almost) totally controlled by libs
4 - Full of fruits and nuts (of the human variety)
I’m sure the list is endless . . .
Even though it was before my time, I loved this California:

Sadly long, long gone.
Two answers: LA & SF. It has nothing to do with the land. It’s the people and their abject irresponsibility, both morally and politically.
“Californians still think its this great star....”
He’s wrong on that point.
(At least as far as I’m concerned...)
Kalipornia??
Kali & Gamorrah??
Geez, I don’t think I can think of a reason.... lol
Laughable provincialism in action.
I don’t hate them, but they do seem to be liberal freaks. I feel sorry for the conservatives that live there.

On a hill we'll take some tea, And watch L.A. fall in the sea. |
I like your thinking.
>>>I have a reason for disliking California: I spent 50 years there and despite everything I tried to do to prevent it, the place slipped slowly into total disarray and debasement.<<<
I only spent 10 months there and came out of the experience disliking it as well. (Mendincino County, by the way... the most physically beautiful place I’ve ever lived... with the worst neighbors, community, and school I’ve ever seen. My garden was spectacular, though.)
California reminds me of a women who was stunning in her youth, surrounded by suitors, but has since glided through life on her reputation, plastic surgery, and pharmecuticals, all the while insisting in a slurred, raspy, drunken voice that she is still the most attractive girl at the party. A shame.
California was a great state until all the liberals moved in from the midwest and east coast. Then Reagan gave amnesty to the illegals and illegal immigration boomed. Then the homosexuals and unions took over state government... the rest is history...
The only thing they didn’t frig up is the weather
Q. “Why do so many people hate California?”
A. DEMOCRATS
I think of Mystery Babalon, as John the Divine described her. California could easily be that Jezebel, don’t you think?
For the same reason they’ve hated Michigan for so long. The difference is that we’re actually trying to fix Michigan.
I’m a Californian, but the criticisms are quite valid. If my wife’s and my jobs were not geographically tied to this place, particularly hers, I doubt we would be here. (A conservative-leaning suburb of Austin seems appealing, or maybe Savannah or Charleston, SC.)
Duuuuuuuude! On a clear day, UCLA.
I hate the California Air resources Board setting my air pollution control requirements in North Dakota.
If Orange County, San Diego County, and the Inland Empire broke away to form a 51st state, that would be one nice 51st.
California voters.
Me too. The state has really fallen down. Sad to say. The left has just about completed its death-grip on our legislature and it is anti-business and getting more anti-family every day. Sad, because I really love this state. Our lives are wrapped up here or we might be moving too.

Liberal control has destroyed this once great state.
It should be a lesson to all the other states out there that liberal give-aways don’t work. They just created more dependency and bankrupted the state.
>Sanctuary Cities
>Anti business attitude and regulations in government, which is run by
>Democrats
>The state foists upon the rest of the country politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein, who export their damaging policies to Washington DC and thus the rest of the country
>People in the know know that the state will need a bailout within three years
>I'll leave it there for the moment

There are really two California's.
The Nine San Francisco Bay Area counties, LA county, Sacramento metropolitan area, and the coastal hippie dopers clustered along the higher North state coastline are one California, a very sick and destructive entity.
The rural agricultural and husbandry California is the other.
The rural Californians are, for the large part, normal people at the mercy of the urban Fascists, and there is no mercy.
Fascist California should be classified as a biological weapon of mass destruction, the description fits.
My wife is German American and doesn’t understand why one of her Jewish friends didn’t like Germans.
I did 6 years in silicon valley and got out. My daughter just moved to Savannah—nice culture with lots of historical sites. Nice in winter but potentially uncomfortably hot in summer.
Austin is the liberal armpit of texas. Don’t go there.
Why not.
It’s not California so much as its electorate that I hate.
How about FDRQ?
Mexico was very big.
why do liberals always want to use the word “hate”
I was just looking at that thread on the homo hairdresser, thinking deep thoughts about “homophobia” and spontaneous combustion, and a serviceable answer came to me:
By applying the word “hate” (ignorance=fear=hate) well, that means that there’s something wrong with the person repelled, rather than the thing that could be seen as hateful.
By this line of reasoning, if *you* just came to understand (the corrupt, financially & morally bankrupt state of ) California, or (the man-to-man practice of buggery/sodomy) homosexuality, then you would no longer fear and thus hate it.
In other words, you’re/we’re the problem as “phobics” but, to the contrary, you would be acceptable if you came to understand, embrace and love California and homosexuals, as a Caliphile or homophile.
Finally, as President Zero points out in the thread on the “stupidity” of drilling for oil, this theory presupposes stupidity on the part of those who refuse to accept 2012 Californication and militant butt-pokery.
It hurts thinking like a lefty, don’t it?
I have a lot of family members that lived there, one was a Mayor in 1853, most left.
I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. We left in ‘94.
I’m 3rd generation Californian, now living in Idaho (which is a really awful, horrible place to live. Well, at least that’s what I tell liberal Californians who might want to live here).

I can think of different words to fit those initials.
The Peoples Republic of Kalipornia?
Illinois and California used to be critical swing states much like Ohio and Florida are now. Slowly, but surely, more purple states have been turning blue as the country follows California and Illinois into financial hell
