oll: Romney on the rise in Arizona?

According to a new poll, Romney has a substantial 16-point lead over Rick Santorum in Arizona:

According to the NBC News/Marist survey, 43% of people likely to vote in Arizona’s GOP presidential contest say they are backing Romney, with 27% supporting Santorum, 16% backing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and 11% behind Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.

The survey was conducted Sunday and Monday and its release came hours before a GOP presidential debate hosted by CNN and the Republican Party of Arizona at the Mesa Arts Center. The showdown is the first in nearly a month and is the last time the candidates will share a stage before primaries in Arizona and Michigan on Tuesday, before Washington state holds a contest on March 3, and before 10 more states hold primaries or caucuses on Super Tuesday on March 6.

While Romney has been expected to win Arizona since Florida, polls last week showed a closer race in the Grand Canyon State. According to a CNN pollster, though, the trend since Sunday has been away from Santorum and towards Romney, suggesting something Santorum said or did this weekend might have cost him support in the Southwestern state. Plus, Santorum has spent very little time in the state.

I suppose that's in-the-tank Sludge's new headline.

According to a new poll, Romney has a substantial 16-point lead over Rick Santorum in Arizona:

And that's before tonight's debate?

We, conservatives are going to have to unite behind Newt or we will end up with Romney. It is so clear what is coming our way with the bias of the establishment. The poll if correct in which you shared, was before the debate. Rick did badly in the debate; so he will lose more ground, I assume. Romney camp must be celebrating (for now) Newt's camp can be proud. We need to stop Romney; then Obama. All powerful conservatives should get together and plan to join forces, so we can get Newt as the candidate/ to undo Obama's agenda.

Romney is an “Empty Suit.”

We have all met Romney in our long-ago childhood. He was the school yard brat who threw rocks at all the big kids, and then ran and screamed “that wasn’t me!” when caught red-handed.

The fact that the GOP RINOs love the socks off of Mittens tells more about the status of today’s GOP than it does about the Empty Suit called Romney.

Not going to happen. Too much independence and not enough compromise. Every candidate is flawed. If I could blend the best parts of them together they’d make the perfect candidate, but that’s not going to happen. For me, in the end, its ABO.

And, due to misguided zeal by some, Romney will soon lead Michigan by 10 pts.

Folks need to wake up. Santorum is a rookie and a little weird, a little mean.

Gingrich is the real deal and able to win both the nomination and the POTUS.

Alas, I haven't picked a winning politician since 1984.

The ABO ( Mitt ) will get us killed in the general...because too many people despise him and Rick cannot muster up to Obama. Newt is our best hope. Romney is coming on now..if we don't unite.

“Real Deal”? On another planet.
By making news like this:

US election 2012: Newt Gingrich calls for US moon base
At a Florida rally, Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich takes a giant leap into the future as he promises a permanent American colony on the moon “by the end of my second term”.

Obama will have fun to no end. Gingrich trails Obama by 15+ points, has negatives that fall through the cellar, has a 20 point deficit with female voters, and lost big with every key demographic in pivotal FL. Gingrich needs to bow out and allow a Santorum victory in MI and AZ. If Romney advances, the establishment will be sending bouquets to Gingrich.

I think so, too. And, if Rick really wants to stop Romney, he needs to help join forces because he cannot stand up to the Paul's attacks and Mitt's; he will be hurt badly by Obama. We need a grown up, a statesman. Whoever gets the nod, all of us are going to have to be 110% with them because Obama’s machine will crucify them at each turn. People cannot stand Mitt now; so he will not have full grassroots support. I think Newt can handle Obama's radicalism. Tonight, I just don't see even Palin being able to stop Obama. We need someone like Newt due to his experience and understanding of the radicalism he has fought against for most of his life. I don't see Mitt stopping Obama/he was coping Newt's answers tonight..me me..me..Mitt will be the GOP's puppet.

The ABO could be Ron Paul for all I care. Newt looked calm and spoke well, just like he did before when he was trailing. I fear that success ruins the man. If he cannot out and out win GA it’s over for him.

Why on earth would the strongest conservative step aside for a rookie. Gee, enough, of the desperation..polls have been manipulated..

Why?
(a) To defeat Romney and (b) To defeat Obama

If the numbers for Gingrich and Santorum’s numbers were switched, I’d be demanding Santorum to withdraw.

We all need to make sure that does not happen..We have to keep Newt in this/Rick can't muster Obama. I don't want to see Mitt win the nod/he may though since everyone and all political variables are helping him.

Rick did poorly in the debates. Really, he should help Newt and the country now. Rick’s steam has hit a problem. I think Mitt will win AZ and MI.

The GOP is committing suicide by debate. People keep deluding themselves into thinking they can switch candidates every two days and it won’t matter. At this rate Romney is the Nom and Bo will win re-elect easily.

So much for that poll.

AMERICANS WILL NOT VOTE FOR A PARTY THAT PUTS FASCIST ROMNEY,
the VULTURE RINO, ON ITS TICKET

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

It’s funny watching a Gingrich supporter saying Santorum couldn’t stand up to Romney’s attacks. Like Newt did so well at it after South Carolina. I guess that’s why he won Florida and held his polling lead :-)

I remember Gingrich folks explaining then how NOBODY could be expected to survive the onslaught that Gingrich was subjected to.

Now you seem gleeful that you were correct, and Santorum may not be able to either. Of course, if nobody can, that means we will be stuck with Romney.

Rick Perry should come back, and Santorum and Gingrich should both drop out and endorse him — Perry looked downright presidential last night.

I guess I missed the previous Gingrich presidential run.

Or maybe you have an entirely different definition of “Rookie”.
