NYPD monitored Muslim students all over Northeast (Good!)

The New York Police Department monitored Muslim college students far more broadly than previously known, at schools far beyond the city limits, including the elite Ivy League colleges of Yale and the University of Pennsylvania, The Associated Press has learned.

Police talked with local authorities about professors 300 miles (480 kilometers) away in Buffalo and even sent an undercover agent on a whitewater rafting trip, where he recorded students' names and noted in police intelligence files how many times they prayed.

Detectives trawled Muslim student websites every day and, although professors and students had not been accused of any wrongdoing, their names were recorded in reports prepared for Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

These are the (obvious) cops who parked in our neighborhood in unmarked cars watching people.

I believe they thought they were invisible.

Look, we know a New York accent every single time. When they showed up at the local 7/11 for beer and cigarettes, they gave themselves away!

It’s about time somebody kept tabs on the mass-murder cult that pretends to be a “religion of peace.”

Enjoy my tagline.

The muzzies need to be monitored all over the United States. Shouldn’t those bozos at Homeland Security be doing this? They need to get off their asses and do the jobs that the taxpayers are paying them to do.

r u guys crazy? nypd should only work within nyc limit. otherwise they are violating the law. when they do their un stings in VA you guys get mad but not for this?

This is wrong. The FBI is tasked with this NOT the NYPD. This is illegal violation of peoples right and they should be sued. We do not live in China with secret police force

at schools far beyond the city limits,

How many misses and near-misses of acts of terrorism will this nation endure before it realizes that it is providing constitutional protection to a murderous cult?

No islam - no terror. Know islam - know terror.

Hmm ~ of course we are angry with New York. Next time they get attacked we'll cheer the other side or something ~ (/s).

Undercover cops in unmarked cars can get hurt here.

I would not trust a muslim (spelled this way on purpose) in an empty basement.

I'm not going to debate whether it's legal/Constitutational, but I'm going to remind everybody that this is NYPD, under Bloomberg, and Bloomberg does not like guns.

There is a thing called mission creep. Would folks be okay if NYPD started online monitoring for people from New York who discuss owning guns and compiling a database on them? Wouldn't be hard to start making a list of FReepers, and they have people who would be trying to determine the identities of those FReepers.

And don't think for one moment that somebody at NYPD or Bloomberg himself hasn't thought about this - the man hates guns, and a lot of gun-grabbers think that gun owners are not too far removed from being terrorists.
