COLLIER COUNTY - NBC2 Investigators discovered there are parents living in Florida illegally, but their children are getting millions of your tax dollars in public assistance. The amount they're receiving is growing.
Despite little Sergio's smile, the Collier County kindergartener doesn't live an easy life.
"He travels with his family. They don't know where they are going to sleep and eat when they get to another place," says Barbara Mainster, director of the Redlands Christian Migrant Association.
The non-profit of 70 schools cater to poor migrant workers' children.
Born in United States, Sergio's parents moved to the U.S. illegally to find work in Immokalee.
"They receive food stamps, if that's what you're calling public assistance. I would say the majority of the families get that for their children, yes," said Mainster.
An NBC2 Investigation uncovered the number of these children getting public assistance nearly doubled from January 2009 to November 2011, from about 50,000 to 98,000.
The money they received also jumped from $6 million to nearly $16 million during that time.
"It's unsustainable that America can just take on everyone," says Jay Johnson.
Johnson writes extensively about immigration for the online publication the Florida Citizen.
He says current immigration policies allow undocumented workers to take advantage of the welfare system.

For the first time in my life I went into one of these offices, about 2 weeks ago, and I can confirm that simply having the benefits forms in ENGLISH is rare —99% were ONLY in Spanish.
All staff were hispanic with thick accents, and all the clientele will stare at you, wondering if you’re a cop.
This was in a California farming community.
EVERY person in there was Mexican, and everyone in their cars outside was also.
Humboldt County Ca offices were closed Monday and someone called the local TV news crew to come down to the welfare office to point out the only sign on the door was in Spanish...

Even illegal aliens need some form of identification in order to receive “welfare” benefits on behalf of their illegal unholy spawn, yet any jackass can vote, no I.D. required.

The only way to fix the problem is to allow the system to collapse under the weight of these foreign invaders, then start again from scratch. It will be bloody and brutal, but this is the only way possible that I can see.

Doesn't do our side of the equation much good by calling kids "unholy spawn". Illegal for sure, but they weren't around to hold mommy down and force daddy to impregnate her - if you have to stoop to name-calling of a crude sort, vent at the parents. Be advised that I appreciate and respect your opinion, but I will be as vile and rude as I wish. Conservatives have taken the high road for far too long, yet all it got us was an abundance of RINOs running the RNC and a half-breed, muzzie marxist in the White House.
And before you call me a bigot or a racist, be advised that my wife is from Mexico and we have 2 daughters. My daughters are not “unholy spawn” because my wife and I are US citizens, we run our own business, pay a sh!t load of taxes every year, and pay our own way in life, including college tuition for both of our daughters.
So, I will continue to refer to the children of illegal aliens as “unholy spawn” because they are leaches and are sucking hte life blood out of this nation, which in my mind, clearly qualifies them as “unholy”.
