OLYMPIA, Wash. — Gov. Chris Gregoire handed gay rights advocates a major victory Monday, signing into law a measure that legalizes same-sex marriage in Washington state, making it the seventh in the nation to allow gay and lesbian couples to wed.

Gregoire signed the bill surrounded by gay rights supporters. “I’m proud our same-sex couples will no longer be treated as separate but equal,” she said.

A citizens initiative is already in the works to overturn this. My bet is that there will be outright harassment wherever signature gatherers will be. Our fudge packer supporters here in Seattle are second only to San Fran Freako in their depravity.

The woman uses the rhetoric of segregation to legitimize her perversion?

Do it in the churches. Pass the petition with the plate.

See if the scum have the guts to disrupt mass.

When the state is involved, at least in modern times, their definition of marriage is simply going to be what pols, judges or the majority think it can be at any one time. I hope they get their popular vote process going, I bet it will be a really close one though, if it passes at all in that state.

Was this voted on by the citizens of Washington State, or did the legislature just up and decide this?

RE: Was this voted on by the citizens of Washington State, or did the legislature just up and decide this?

Of course there was NO REFERENDUM. You can’t have common people deciding when the elite legislature and executive were VOTED in by them to decide for the masses.

I, too, am opposed to homosexual relationships as being treated as separate but equal. They clearly are not equal.

Some fine ‘catholic’ that election stealing Gov. is ay?
How some people have no fear of God is beyond me. Eternal hell is an awful place to go and there they will finally be ‘believers’.... the very thought of it gives me the shudders.

RE: Some fine ‘catholic’ that election stealing Gov. is ay?

We ought to remind ourselves that being BAPTIZED into a church as an infant does not mean that one grows up to be a real believer.

I know of MANY atheists who were baptized at birth.

In this sense, many churches that baptize infants are really miscounting their church membership. They are including those who have DESERTED their faith.

New Amendment:

“That any state, having passed any ordinance or law legalizing or otherwise sanctioning same sex marriage, forfeits its place in the United States, including its representation in the Congress, becoming a territory or dependency until such time as the ordinance or law sanctioning same sex marriage is repealed, whereupon the territory may apply for statehood.”

This would settle the issue, I’d think.

Like in the UK. There it was the citizens who voted for abortion. In the US it was mandated by the SCOTUS.
