A fourth defeat for Romney? Lack of ads could hurt (Drudge-Rhoades holding their fire in Maine?)

Mitt Romney is in danger of losing his fourth straight state in Saturday's caucuses in Maine, where he and his allies have been all but absent from TV.

That's no coincidence.

Over the past month, he has won in states where he and an allied super PAC, called Restore Our Future, have pounded his rivals with millions of dollars in negative ads. But he has tended to lose big when he has stopped using his power to crush other contenders by spending a ton of money — particularly on TV.

Looks like Matt Drudge and Matt Rhoades are holding their carpetbomb smear attack on Rick until right before Michigan and Arizona.

Could it be they cannot find or make up anything believable enough?

losing his fourth straight state...

I’ve been hearing Romeny totals.... that he ran in x races, and lost y of them, but have not seen the data. So, I went to compile what I could. I believe I heard he was in 17 races... is that right? Can these possibly include each 2008 primary as another race? (17 then makes no sense, since he was in a ton of primaries).

What did Romeny run for prior to Gov? I don’t see evidence of him being a selectman, or on school committee or even dog catcher (although, he might have won at dog-bearing-animal-transporter-via-automobile).

Anyways, here is what I see... 30+ of them:

1. 1994 won Primary US Senate, 80%
2. 1994 lost US Senate, 41-58%
3. 2002 won Primary Gov, unopp
4. 2002 won Gov, 50-45%
5. 2008 lost IA, 25-34%
6. 2008 won WY
7. 2008 lost NH
8. 2008 won MI
9. 2008 won NV
10. 2008 lost SC
11. 2008 lost FL
12. 2008 won ME
13. 2008 lost AL
14. 2008 won AK
15. 2008 lost AZ
16. 2008 lost AR
17. 2008 lost CA
18. 2008 won CO
19. 2008 lost CT
20. 2008 lost DE
21. 2008 lost GA
22. 2008 lost IL
23. 2008 won MA
24. 2008 won MN
25. 2008 lost MO
26. 2008 won MT
27. 2008 lost NJ
28. 2008 lost NY
29. 2008 won ND
30. 2008 lost OK
31. 2008 lost TN
32. 2008 won UT
33. 2008 lost WV

There is a smell of panic around Romney here in Maine today.

He is flying in Friday evening for his FIRST trip here during this campaign.

The only place available on short notice (And willing to rent) is a run-down warehouse being used to store yaghts.

Ron paul carried the north half of the state in ‘08.

The ground troops here for Ron Paul have really been organized. Ron Paul was hee 2 weeks ago and played to 6 well attended crowds.

BTW; Rumor has it ron paul wil be attending a couple caucus meetings this saturday.

Mainers, check my tag.

It would be hilarious if Romney is beaten by Ron Paul in Maine.

I could also see Ron Paul besting him in Virginia without Newt or Santorum on the ballot!

If Paul beats Romney in Virginia, that would be the end of Romney’s campaign. Other than Newt winning Ohio, that would be the second best win that could happen on Super Tuesday.

So, Mitt lost 6 out of the last 9 races he entered. When he loses Maine, he will have lost 70% of the time!

That's not all that good a record.
