Uh, that’s because the Founders were trying to prevent exactly what you are trying to do, Mr. President. They did not want the Federal Government to dominate the life of every citizen from cradle to grave. They wanted people to be free – to earn their own keep and keep what they earn. What a concept.

We read and discussed them in 12th grade civics class.
The Federalist has the real answer about why the Founders designed a system in which carrying out Change is so difficult. That system resulted in a Constitution that has endured for over 200 years, while the constitutions and government systems of other purported democracies have suffered wrenching Change and even periodic dictatorship. Look at France.
