A startling number of Japanese youths have turned their backs on sex and relationships, a new survey has found.
The survey, conducted by the Japan Family Planning Association, found that 36% of males aged 16 to 19 said that they had “no interest” in or even “despised” sex. That’s almost a 19% increase since the survey was last conducted in 2008.
If that’s not bad enough, The Wall Street Journal reports that a whopping 59% of female respondents aged 16 to 19 said they were uninterested in or averse to sex, a near 12% increase since 2008.

I think that there is already an effect of rampant sexulizing every aspect of our society. I believe I saw an article some time ago about young women in their 20s and 30s who have become "bored" with sex. Understandable since we are pushing these young women to have sex at younger and younger ages with lots of different partners; and, by they time they hit 30, they are done.
I have no idea if Japan has the same type of sexualization of their children; but, this could also be a by-product of over a decade of no-growth economy which gives no hope to young people that their futures are going to be better.

How tragic, seeing Japan commit demographic suicide. It’s more obvious there because of their strictly-enforced immigration laws. If we controlled our borders the way they do theirs, we’d be seeing a similar population collapse.
I have to call bs on this. Stringers in tokyo are usually english teachers or less and pick the most sensational stories possibles. There are momma boys and such, but the avg jap boy is exposed to the female form early on.
These stories are usually written by dorks who have no access to women. It makes them feel better to write thiss kind of stuFf.
Japan ngo are the same as us nonprofit and these surveys are cries for. More money.

This is probably a response to a hostile environment with little chance for advancement or accomplishment.
I remember a show several years ago in which they asked a Japanese high school girl what she wanted to be when she grew up. Her answer?
“American”
Several of the girls around her nodded their heads in agreement and commented in the affirmative. It appears that the environment they grow up in is so hostile that it has suppressed procreation and there appears to be little that they can do other than moving to another country, such as the US.
Alternatively, this may also be what the real “Digital Age” looks like: Few relationships formed but a monster monthly bill for porno and on line war games.

The non-aggressive men are called Herbivore Boys, and the aggressive (career wise) women are called Carnivore Girls. But the Carnivore Girls aren’t interested in sex any more than the Herbivore Boys are.

The cultural in Japan is very matriarchal. It’s weird, you kind of have to experience it. It’s tough to describe, but sexuality has a weird taboo over there. Whether it’s good or bad, I’m not sure.
I can’t complain with people turning away from an oversexualized culture. I think people are just pulling back from the media-promoted image of every young person having tons of sex. It’s simply not true and it turns off a lot of people.
Hmmm well that is interesting. I guess I did figure with all the social media, mobile phones, etc that it was pretty easy to find a hook up. Shows how little I really know! Never traveled to Japan but had the impression the women were tired of asexual type men there and were looking to the West for suitable mates.
Due to the one child policy in China. There may be many Chinese men in the next few generations looking demanding to the East for suitable mates.

One issue facing Japan, and also the West, is the tendency of women to prefer staying single than to "settle" for any guy who does not meet their standards. In the past, when career opportunities for women were not as good, this tendency had more of a counter-balance than it does now.
These are men who have given up. They do not see themselves as being successful enough to attract a wife, and so content themselves with watching porn in their parent's basement.
