FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Police say a gold shop clerk held up in an alley behind his store fired on his two masked robbers, hitting one of them in the shoulder as they fled Tuesday.
The person police say was the getaway driver is a Broward College volleyball player with a history of athletic success at Hollywood Hills High School.
Fort Lauderdale police report that at 6:20 p.m., two masked, armed men approached Oleg Flyaster in an alleyway behind the Gold Buyers business at 5130 N. Federal Highway, demanding his wallet and pointing a gun at his face. Flyaster reached into his back waistband, produced a handgun and quickly began shooting toward the suspects.
Flyaster told police the suspects did not return fire as they fled on foot. Witnesses saw them remove their ski masks and throwing the locaded .45-caliber handgun into some brush.
Police quickly found suspect Marvin Broadway, 23, of Fort Lauderdale. Broadway had been shot in the shoulder. He was taken to Broward General Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and released to the jail.
Soon after, police stopped a vehicle and found suspect Carlton Lowe, 22, also of Fort Lauderdale. Lowe was a passenger in in a getaway vehicle trying to leave the scene with suspect Taylor Miller, 19, of Hollywood at the wheel.
Police found Broadway’s gun and his ski mask near the robbery scene.

I wonder why they thought it was relevant that he was a “vollyball player” lol, college much less.
That’s unfortunate, just when he was getting his life on track. Or, if you prefer, just when he was getting his life turned around.
Is Taylor male or female? I’m not seeing it in the article.

I live in Broward in debi’s district (see tagline) Hwd Hills High is not the greatest area in town.
There was a time when it was. Usually had good sports teams, too.
