“Last night’s Greta was very good for Newt. It gave him an opportunity to state the fact that Romney lies in the moment (i.e. at the debates) forgetting that there is a tomorrow where his lies will be exposed.

I honestly believe it was Romney’s operatives that forced Herman Cain out.”

I agree; I thought the Greta interview was excellent. I hope it was widely seen by Floridians. Also, though I think Herman Cain had his own problems, I believe you’re right about Romney’s involvement. My husband was listening to the Neal Boortz show some weeks ago. Boortz was talking to Jamie Dupree, who claimed to have a source that proved Romney was behind it.

And now Newt will not feel beholden to the establishment at all. I heard he was saddened by the actions of people he had thought were his friends. His eyes have been opened.

In truth, I would like to see Newt and Sarah work with the Tea Parties and start a new political party - The Conservative Party. I especially would like to see it happen following this Nov.’s election. I call the republican establishment liberalites They see their role as spending our money on causes they think are important without regard to what their hard working base wants.

I fear Romney will be the Republican nominee. I don’t think Romney will beat Obama because he won’t be able to handle the message when the media and the democrats attack him in the same manner he has done to Sarah, Perry, Cain, and Newt. Romney has been given a free ride so far from the media, but as soon as the nomination process is over with, then he will feel the full brunt of the MSM. It won’t be pretty.

I think the Rep. establish believes that the low enthusiastic turnout for Romney will be higher than the low enthusiastic turnout for Obama. What a god-awful election that would be. Romney can’t get his supporters to show up now, just like McCain four years ago, and Dole years ago so who will stand in the rain at a rally for him in the summer? Not I. I suspect his rallies will be giving out free food and beer just to draw a crowd.

I hope Newt follows Reagan’s path and picks up stream as the process goes forward. Heck, he has faced the storm and if he can survive there is not much else that with which to smack him down.

I am sorry that NC’s primary is not until May. I think super Tuesday will be the final opportunity for Newt. I wish Florida was not a winner take all, in fact I wish none of the states was winner take all. I like the way SC did it. It seemed to be fairer than letting he who has the most money for ads (Iowa and FL) have the most influence.

Good luck, Newt. I am hoping you take Florida because we need someone like you to force DC to change. Only Newt can make republicans do what they campaign on.

Wrote a letter to Santorum’s campaign last night BEGGING him to resign. I urge all Freepers to do the same today.

A Sunday night resignation would be most effective.

Come ON Rick - we need you!!!

If he did, HE, more than anyone else, would be in THE prime position to rally and/or shame these GOP-E’rs into getting behind Newt. It would be SO powerful.

Praying for Rick. Praying for his supporters to do the right thing — let’s live to fight this fight!!!!

TAX DAY 1994 - Politicians play with ire - Gingrich , others stage stunts touting frugality
The Atlanta Journal and The Atlanta Constitution - Saturday, April 16, 1994
Author: ALEXANDER, KATHEY, Kathey Alexander STAFF WRITER: STAFF
As procrastinators put the finishing touches on their tax returns Friday, politicians across the nation carried out carefully crafted stunts aimed at landing the votes of irate taxpayers.

In Roswell, U.S. House Minority Whip Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) touted fiscal conservatism by staging a mock tea party on the banks of the Chattahoochee River . Conservative Republicans tossed empty produce crates into the river in symbolic re-enactment of the incident in Boston 221 years ago when colonists dressed as Indians dumped tea into the harbor in rebellion against the government.

More than 200 similar rallies occurred throughout the country, including Boston, San Francisco and Detroit , as candidates used the tax filing deadline as a forum for one-upsmanship on frugality.

“Americans literally work every day for months just to pay for a government that wastes their money,” said Gingrich , who is seeking re-election from the 6th district. “On the day taxes are due, we should remind you that you have every right as a citizen to protect yourself, your family and your wallet with your vote.”

Hey, no problem — as long as we get it out there!

Newt’s no stranger to Tea Party values ...he’s been LIVING and WORKING this issue his entire career — a lot longer than many of us have been paying attention.

Of course the guy has had to bend here and there ..that’s the nature of politics, sorry. But underneath it all ..I am rock certain that this is where his convictions lie — at least as close as we’re going to get.

Less government
No to tyranny
No to higher taxes
No to the Establishment!!!

Anybody who votes for either Rick of Ron in the Florida election is just insuring a Romney canadicy. There is zero value in either Rick or Ron in Florida. This is all or nothing election for 50 delegates up for grabs. Get a grip on this reality and vote for either Newt or Mitt. Don’t waste your vote on Rick or Ron. They have no chance of winning Florida and therefore will not benefit in winning any delegates. Thats why Rick and Ron pulled out and went home. All you hard core Rick and Paul supporters will be helping Mitt if you vote for your candidate in Florida. Help us stop Mitt in Florida and then you can go back to your guy in the succeeding elections.

Rooster, this is exactly the perception that has appeared. Romney is simply throwing money around, but there is no message, no connection to the hearts and minds of the voters. We need to remember that this is a Republican primary. Republicans see the world quite differently from liberals. We value substance. Romney’s attacks are more about destroying Newt than connecting and conveying a real message to the voters. This is why he is having such a difficult time getting to 40% approval, even though he is spending such a tremendous amount of money.

Romney’s support is bought. Newt’s support is felt. Two very different drivers.

Republican rally ‘ teas ‘ off on rising taxes
Boston Herald (MA) - Saturday, April 16, 1994
Author: Bill Hutchinson

As Bay Staters rushed to beat the tax return deadline, Republican Newt Gingrich led a Boston waterfront rally against high taxes and government waste.

As part of the noon event, eight rallygoers in headbands, feathers and warpaint re-enacted the 1773 Boston Tea Party and threw wooden tea crates in the harbor. It offended some American Indians.

(snip)

But organizers said they didn’t mean to offend Native Americans. They argued they were staging the historical event to demonstate how angry people are about high taxes today.

The Georgia congressman bashed President Clinton as a tax-and-spend ring leader and said taxpayers will have to work until May 5 before “you get to work for any kind of income for your own family.”

He urged citizens to take action, saying, “Government only gets as big and taxes only get as high as citizens tolerate.”

Taxes way down the list of voter concerns, poll shows
Houston Chronicle - Wednesday, April 13, 1994
Author: THOMAS B. EDSALL, Washington Post

EXCERPT

Christine Todd Whitman, the Republican victor in New Jersey, came from 20 points behind to defeat the incumbent, Democrat Jim Florio, after she pledged to cut state tax burdens substantially.

“I worked for a month on the Whitman campaign, and we won that race on the tax issue,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, who noted that Whitman took less popular stands on welfare and crime than did Florio.

“The (Democratic) left bragged about how Florio (who raised taxes) was going to be the prototype of the Clinton re-election campaign,” Norquist said. “They lost for precisely the reason that the public does care about taxes.”

A number of conservative and Republican leaders are planning demonstrations for Friday to revive the issue.

House Minority Whip Newt Gingrich , R-Ga., and Norquist are organizing re-enactments of the 1773 Boston Tea Party in Boston, Indianapolis, San Diego, Atlanta and Washington. Norquist said smaller demonstrations, many to collect signatures for anti-tax referenda in various states, will be held at post offices.

“It’s not as hot as in the late ‘70s, but it does help us a lot to remind voters which party raises taxes,” Gingrich said. “You don’t have the kind of bracket creep pressure you had in the 1970s (before the system was indexed to inflation), but wherever taxes have been on the ballot, they (proponents of lower taxes) have won, and where Republicans have made taxes a campaign theme, they have won.”

Republican National Committee Chairman Haley Barbour said he plans to speak in San Francisco on Friday, and “my message will be very plain: Look at your tax return and decide whether you are getting your money’s worth.”

I do love that Newt’s campaign is already lining up to blame Santorum IF he were to lose. Seriously, if you’re a great candidate, then people WANT to vote for you. If they don’t, then it’s not a slight on your competition, it’s a reflection on YOUR candidacy.

Honestly, Romney pulls 25% consistently. If you can’t win just over ONE THIRD of the other 75% to beat him, then how do you expect to beat Obama???

I have one question for you Newt supporters.

If Newt can’t be trusted to keep his own Wedding Vows, why do you think he can be trusted to keep his Oath of Office?

Voting politics over principles only gets you unprincipled politicians. It NEVER results in the opposite. If we can’t grasp this simple truth and continue to select politicians with no core principles, then no amount of reform is going to help the GOP and it’s time to strike the tent for good.

I’m not throwing my support to Romney, but I’m not settling for a lying, cheating, whoremonger who can’t even keep his own wedding vows. He’s proven to be untrustworthy in his private life, that eliminates him from trust in his public life.

If anything, Romney flip flopping all the time on issues means HE cannot keep a promise to even stick to ANY set of core beliefs.

“If Newt can’t be trusted to keep his own Wedding Vows, why do you think he can be trusted to keep his Oath of Office?”

I have two questions for you:
1) King Solomon had many wives. KingAhab was faithful to one. Which was the king who enjoyed God’s favor?
2) On a secular note, President Reagan was divorced and remarried. President Carter is still married to his first wife. Which man was the better president.

I have two more questions for ALL of the sanctimonious, skivvies sniffing prigs out there:
1) Which one of you is sinless?
2) Pursuant to the above question, are you now going to throw that stone you are clutching, or are you just going to stand there and bleed?

Answer like your soul depends on it, because it just might.

At this stage of the battle, votes for Santorum translate into a win for Romney. It’s clear.

And a win for Romney means either the milktoast middle of the road mindset prevails. This means NOTHING gets done to advance conservatism. Nothing.

If a Romney win translates into a win for Obama, the pro-life cause will be all but SILENCED. Already Catholic healthcare institutions are being forced to prescribe birth control pills against their will among other evil injustices. What would be next?

I can’t even imagine what would be next. It would be the triumph of the Culture of Death, perhaps for decades. What they do we say to the unborn? What do you say to your children, who will be saddled with debt for the rest of their lives? What do you say to our elders, who will face dwindling healthcare resources and a culture that says to them: you are useless after whatever age WE dictate as the cutoff. Now, take this pill and go home.

Romney wins and we conservatives are OUT of the fight.

Please, think it through.

I look at the Coptic Christians in Egypt, and I can’t help but think — will this be the fate of Christians in America someday?

I’ve always felt it would be, with how our culture is changing. We are essentially killing ourselves with our inability to unite and fight this. And ironically, Newt is the ONE candidate who states one of his main reasons for running is to battle anti-Christian bigotry going on in our country.

It’s really frightening.

Are you aware that wife number one put her claws in him when he was but sixteen, got pregnant and he did the honorable thing and married her. Today she would be in jail.

Wife two has a large FBI file which states she was “mentally unstable” She would have been in jail if the charges against her weren't dropped with a plea agreement.
( Got caught in Paris selling “?????” influence)

Wife number three got him involved in the church. Both of the previous marriages were annulled. He became Catholic and takes communion. God's grace. Do you believe in it?
