Asharq Al-Awsat – The US embassy in Riyadh ^ | 1/22/2012 | Salim Salman

The US embassy in Riyadh revealed that 110,000 Saudi nationals applied for a visa to visit the US in 2011, an increase of 25,000 from the previous year. The embassy also revealed that 93 percent of these visa applications were approved, and 75 percent of visa application approvals were issued within one week.

He also revealed that the US embassy is required to check all the required documentation, as well as interview the visa applicant, revealing that some visas are rejected due to the applicant’s failure to provide accurate answers at this stage.

As for claims that some questions contained on the visa application form are offensive, such as questions whether the applicant has every had any involvement with a terrorist organization or prostitution, he stressed that these questions are asked by US embassies across the world, under the US immigration act and approved by US congress.

US Consul General at the US embassy in Riyadh, Glen Keiser revealed that the number of Saudi Arabian nationals applying for visas to visit the US has risen by 100 percent over the past 4 years.

He also revealed that more Saudi Arabians apply for visas to visit the US than any other nationality around the world.

Keiser also told Asharq Al-Awsat that the US visa application process is currently under review to make this faster and easier....

Keiser said that 3 out of 4 Saudi applicants are businessmen.

Lemmesee, let's work the numbers:

93% of 110,000 Saudi's = 102,300 Saudi's let into the US last year.

75% of 102,300 Saudi's = 76,725 Saudi's whom were security approved in one week.

That's an average of 1,475 Saudi's security cleared per week, given a 5 day week, that's 295 Saudi's that were security cleared and given entry visas to the US..... every day. And each of them were interviewed?

How could we discover the background of 295 Saudi's every day, day after day, all year?

But we do take the risk of offending the Saudi's by at least asking them if they are involved in terrorism. It's not like we're just rubber stamping their applications.

Immigration, both legal and illegal will eventually kill America off.

Very interesting. I wonder how many are involved in terrorism.

This has nothing to do with jobs

I was being facetious. We have no jobs for the hordes that continue to flood into the U.S.

During Bush, we imported more Muslims than any time in the previous 10 years of his administration.

Why stop now?

Very interesting. I wonder how many are involved in terrorism.

Surely they've told the government they're entirely trustworthy (sarcasm). There's enough overstayed visa recipients to create their own army within our nation:

US cannot track foreign visitors who overstay their visas

2009 article: Last year, 39 million foreign travelers were admitted into the United States on temporary visas; based on the paper stubs, homeland security officials said, they confirmed the departure of 92.5 percent of them; most of the remaining visitors did depart, officials said, but failed to check out because they did not know how to do so; more than 200,000 of them are believed to have overstayed intentionally

What is the size of the british army?

British Army is United Kingdom’s land warfare branch of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. It consists of active 113,970 regular and 33,130 Territorial Army and 134,190 regular reserves. The department has been managed by the Ministry of Defence since 1963.

??? Just the other night on the news (Obama was visiting Disneyworld) it was being reported that getting a visa to visit the U.S. could take up to 9 months.

That works out to 12 approvals/interviews an hour (or 1 every 5 minutes) around the clock 24/7/365. Very nearly enough time to check for a pulse and flip the hundred stack of C-notes to see if it sounds right. That represents a $22 rebate to every US citizen to offset fuel prices. We should check and see if Yemen or Libya want to get in on the deal.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that this country is making all the same mistakes that were made prior to 9/11.

Funny how Americans have been more inconvenienced in multiple ways by our own government than the bloody Saudis, who gave birth to the 9/11 terrorists and financed terrorist cells all over the world for decades unimpeded, and on top of that, tried to build a victory mosque nearly on top of Ground Zero.

After 911, Bush allowed in more Muslims than the 10 years prior to 911.

An approval every 5 minutes and by law, an interview is required. The required questions about terrorism and prostitution, how many applicants would say yes?

Consider this:

There are about 19,000,000 ethnic Saudi’s in Saudi Arabia and hence about 9,500,000 ethnic Saudi males.

Assuming that virtually none of the applicants are Saudi women, 102,300 divided by 9,500,000 = about 1%

That means that about 1% of all Saudi males, of all ages, come to the US every year, year after year. By comparison, that would be about 1 and a half times the immigration from Mexico.

.
No mistake. Done intentionally to show our goodwill towards Islam.

After all it’s a ROP. So why should we reject the ambassadors of peace?

I doubt that the Saudi government is a true friend of the USA people. Selling oil to us doesn’t make it so. As to the Saudi citizens I doubt they have any empathy with us or our Constitution. We had best free our Nation from dependency and develop our own oil resources.

“75 percent of visa application approvals were issued within one week.”

Odd that. My wife requires a Visa to enter the US (it is the one that permits a foreign national to work while in the USA) and that usually takes 3 weeks to be approved, even though she has been renewing these for 20 years.

Then again, she isn’t from an oil rich state.

Do I need the sarc tag here?
