That’s a little rough.

I don’t have any experience with the Girl Scouts, but I know the Boy Scouts teach Americanism and love of country.

It is bad when an edict comes down from adults in charge of these groups that most of the troop level parents and kids do not agree with, and it is bad that the troops get punished for the acts of their national leadership, but letting supposed transgendered boys in and supporting planned parenthood should not even be imposed on them.

Kids need to be able to grow without Homosexuals and pedophiles and sexually obsessive adults screwing up their recreation.

Like most orgs devoted to the development of young women, the Girl Scouts appears to have been taken over by feminists. You don't ever hear the media attacking the Girl Scouts for their beliefs the way you hear them villify the Boy Scouts do you? Are the Girl Scouts rooting out any lesbian scout leaders or pedophiles in their ranks? You never hear of that being an issue. You have to wonder why.

How is this rough??

The Girl Scouts have a nationally-implemented program followed by all troops that encourages the radical feminist agenda. In addition, money is funneled into Planned Parenthood. I hope more parents & parishes take a stand against this garbage. There are other alternatives like Little Flowers or American Heritage Girls.

No, it’s not a little rough.

You don’t know how PC leftist the GS have become. And the sexually related crap they are teaching the girls is, well, crap.

My wife was a troop leader for over 10 years, and I worked very closely with the kids. By the time our daughter grew up and our involvement with GS was winding down, we were getting fed up with the direction the organization was taking. And it’s a lot worse now.

I (and the other dads that helped) couldn’t be involved as we were 20 years ago with our troop because all men are looked upon as rapists and pedophiles. It’s gotten disgusting, IMO.

And don’t kid yourself that most of the parents are against what is being taught. Half of them don’t know and many of the rest don’t care.

I don’t have any experience with the Girl Scouts ...

Unlike the Boy Scouts of the US, the Girl Scouts have been exploited by Planned Parenthood and other left-wing organizations.

The BSA and the Girl Scouts are two completely different things.

Aside from the fact that the Girl Scouts have been taken over by radical feminists and lesbians and are preaching a very extreme agenda, they're no fun either.

My daughter was briefly in the Girl Scout troop at her school. No camping, no hiking, not even nature walks. I tried leading a simple short day hike, and the little darlings complained all the way that their feet hurt or they had chipped a nail. I arranged for the girls to earn their Civics badge by visiting the courthouse and the General Assembly, got our state representative to agree to welcome them and squire them around (he's a really nice guy). But all the mothers kept coming up with excuses why they couldn't go . . . turned out they were afraid to go downtown. I explained that I had arranged parking in a secure deck, that the General Assembly was in session and the Capitol police were on every corner, it was still no go. What a bunch of wussies!

Of course, to be painfully honest, part of the reason was that the school is located in a very trendy suburb of Atlanta (Dunwoody - the place that everybody makes jokes about: "How can you tell when a Dunwoody housewife is in mourning? Black tennis dress." "How does a Dunwoody housewife call her kids in to supper? 'Get in the car!!'") You never saw such a bunch of helpless, do-nothing hothouse flowers in your life.

The day after my daughter turned 14, she had her paperwork turned in to join the local BSA Venture Crew. We never looked back -- Philmont, Northern Boundary canoe trail, skiing trips, ropes courses, hikes on the AT, whitewater kayaking, etc. She earned her Outdoor Bronze Award, got her BSA Lifesaving certificate, and had a blast. I became an Associate Advisor and I had a blast too.

Girl Scouts are different. There are a lot of open lesbians in their management and I’m not sure they really care about the local leadership...that said, lesbians generally don’t go after young girls, so I don’t think this is dangerous, but it might not be the role model you want. And Americanism never seemed to be a part of it.

The GS also got into “urban scouting” years ago, which meant aiming their programs at “urban youth” (black girls) whose major “need” appeared to be contraception. To my knowledge, the Boy Scouts don’t have all of these sex-ed programs and furthermore, when one of my daughters had a brief experience with GS, she said she didn’t want to go ahead because it wasn’t what she had thought it would be (adventure, challenges, etc.). Later she said they spent all their time talking about what we would call “social issues.” So it’s not the same as the Boy Scouts.

I was a Girl Scout (Brownies) leader @ 20 years ago. It was then becoming more and more left leaning at the regional council leadership level, and seems to have gotten worse. Really a shame. Lots of innocent victims of their PC attitudes that stray from what GSA was founded to be and to do.
