Rising human carbon dioxide emissions may be affecting the brains and central nervous system of sea fishes with serious consequences for their survival, an international scientific team has found.
Carbon dioxide concentrations predicted to occur in the ocean by the end of this century will interfere with fishes' ability to hear, smell, turn and evade predators, says Professor Philip Munday of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies and James Cook University.

The earth has seen far higher amounts of carbon dioxide in the air in the past, and yet somehow these fish managed not to go “crazy” enough to die off (or else evolution furnished them to us today). Why has Gaia gone brittle all of a sudden?

It is my opinion, “Professor Munday”, if that’s really your title, that YOU are consuming far too much oxygen as to benefit mankind, and you should cease immediately.
So, one of the main gasses released from volcanoes is carbon dioxide and yet fish survive.

Moreover another member of this institute is complaining about the dropping number of reef sharks. He says that healthy reefs need more sharks--i.e., predators. Maybe they should get together on the same wavelength.
