I am with you. The media has never been kind to Newt, he’s used to it and he’s fearless!!! The Washington times nailed it in a piece that said the MSM and the Dems want to make this election all about style and charisma because they absolutely cannot promote truth and fairness.

Newt definitely has his work cut out for him.

“It is a huge miscalculation by many here at FR...I can remember when this site really got going we actually cared about character - but you know what they say...this is not your father’s FR.” (Surfer)

What’s the alternative? There’s nothing out there. (dfwgator)

I have to disagree with Surfer. To me any of the Republican candidates have more vastly more character than the anti-American Obama!

The alternative is Obama and in my opinion he is even less principled and less morale than any of the GOP wannabes. We need a fighter - not a saint! The sex scandals are just ridiculous-—I’m not voting on a boyfriend,,I’m voting for President

Just keep in mind - Obama hates you if you are a hard-working, tax-paying, God-loving White person. Obama is out to destroy me because I am just that. He is out to destroy MY America. Obama wants to bring a “gun to a knife fight” to kill me!!! Obama wants to “get in my face” We need a fighter,,,,,I need a fighter in that White House and the GOP better wise up and quick!

I think you nailed it - flawed character is far better than no character

Love it!

I’m on board and have been for weeks.

Newt is the only hope we have right now.

Couple of comments here...

I never said the current candidates were any worse than Obama in regard to character. I believe Obama is aligned with Satan - PERIOD. You can’t go any lower than that - he is challenging Hitler to be the worst ever.

Heck he is even making Jimmy Carter look good.

What frustrates me about FR right now? The Gingrich supporters by in-large act no differently than the Obama supporters - its like we have GBOTS now. No ONE will address Gingrich’s issues. They throw insults, will not answer legitimate questions, concern - won’t even engage in a debate here so we can ALL get to the truth.

Gingrich’s own words...he is a Wilsonian.

http://conservapedia.com/Wilsonianism

Do we really want to go down this road again?

If this is only about beating Obama then why isn’t Romney on the table? Gingrich is not dissimilar than Clinton and FR sure made a lot of hay attacking Clinton’s character. For me it’s simple...Gingrich, Romney lack the moral fiber, lack the core principles and ethics that our country needs in a leader and what Conservatives should be DEMANDING - remember we out-number them!!!

Think about 1 billion being spent on a national daily negative ad campaign. This is all Obama has to do to win - one ad every day:

“She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife. And besides, she has cancer.” - Newt, on his first wife.

One sound-bite every day in every market. Do you really think the American people outside the GBOTS will actually vote for Gingrich?

Santorum isn’t the flashiest but he is the ONLY one representing the truth - well Ron Paul does that as well to some extent but he is so far off the reservation on other issues he just isn’t serious.

Find a place where Santorum has lied? Find a core conservative principle where Santorum has flip-flopped? Find a flaw ethic in either his personal or professional life?

Let me saying something bold - God is watching and I really don’t think God is happy with us choosing the lesser of two evils.

Why not give truth a try this go-around? Why not put Obama up against the truth?

Look at the velocity of what Obama has done in spending, regulations, etc...this is the last chance before we lose our freedom - PERIOD and Ronald Reagan said...once a country has lost freedom they have NEVER gotten it back!

I just don’t see Gingrich actually winning the election - sure he will knock out Obama during debates - but is this what this is really about - embarrassing Obama?

Or is this about Conservatives (the majority of the country) having the courage to actually stand up for principles, ethics and morals and stand in the bright light of the truth and if God intends for Obama to stay in office to destroy the country that so many Conservatives have abandoned in their responsibility to be informed and vote - then at least we didn’t compromise our principles and support one lesser of a scumbag over another.

So here we are...are Americans actually brave rugged individuals like our founders or are we flip-flopping, convenient moral and ethics, participation trophy lemmings with no core values anymore?

And since when did America (or FR for that matter) become a place where people can’t disagree. If people understood the American experiment they would understand we are individuals and collected agreement is impossible - but that is exactly what makes us great - disagreements force improvements, failures force improvements.

We just can’t be afraid to fail especially if we are making our decisions on good moral and ethical principles.

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful responses it shows there are some decent people left here.

I am in 100% support of Newt also Jim. I know of at least 10 friends who changed their support from Rick Santorum to newt in the last week.

This election is too important to America, we need to put it away, so now is the time for all conservatives to get behind Newt.

******OPUS FOR GUENEVERE*****Senator Santorum is the most decent, dependable, pro-life, pro-family, conscientious, articulate, intelligent candidate we are blessed with.

James Dobson endorses him, Glenn Beck endorses him, Concerned Women for America endorses him....

I don't understand, Mr. Robinson why you would endorse Gingrich now.....as well you know the tremendous influence you carry.---Glenn Beck says Gingrich is a 'progressive'( as I understand 'progressive'.... it's not what I want in a President!).. and I believe Beck is right.

Gingrich is highly intelligent, I agree--(so is Santorum)....and debates well (so does Santorum)..

..but I think a lot of folks here are so fed up with Obama ....

..they are hastily getting carried away with Gingrich's rhetoric.

..but is that what we base our nation's life blood on.....a good debater ....

..is this what we have come to as a nation?.....

..are we too afraid to factor out God in this race....the God Santorum loves and reveres and if it is His will, will put Senator Santorum as leader of this land....

..regardless of who you endorse.

I have been blessed to take part in and be a member of this forum family for over 12 years....since March '99

You are a hero to me for taking on the responsibility of running this fine organization....

..I praise you for your courage....and have grown in knowledge and educated beyond my imaginings!

..so therefore, your endorsement leaves me sadly disappointed, I'm sorry to say.>And with a heavy heart I humbly ask you to remove me from this organization.....

It's to hard to remain here day after day and see a good man like Senator Santorum skewed, vilified, defamed by some on this forum...

.....and I would simply be spending my time on Free Republic trying to respond and growing discouraged....----

For many years, I found Free Republic to be a 'safe haven' of like minded, intelligent, caring and engaging people, for the most part.---

Anyway....I wish you and your family all the best and God's blessings.

Please honor my request and remove me.---I guess this is my opus....I didn't mean for it to be so longwinded.

I would just like to address the question of how Gingrich will be capable of getting the woman vote...

Certainly, there are women out there who will be turned off by his past. Those who empathize because of their own experiences, those who feel morally superior, those who don’t like his ego, etc.

Then, there is another group of women. Conservative women. There are those of us who look at women like Marianne Gingrich and while we have sympathy for a broken heart, we are also disgusted by the scornful and vindictiveness with which women like her react. It makes us look weak and let’s face it, unstable.

There are those of us who can separate difficult circumstances and what is best for us personally with what’s good for one’s country. What about military wives? They have to be without their husbands for months and sometimes years at a time. They don’t sit around whining about it. They understand that their men are serving a purpose higher than themselves. Protecting and preserving their country.

Well, we conservative women want to preserve and protect our country too. Not just for ourselves but more importantly, for our children who will have less opportunities, less liberty and less freedom if any at all when Obama gets done with us. We WILL stand up and use our votes as our voices to say ENOUGH!

And conservative Christian women believe in forgiveness too. Just because Newts particular sins happened to be what they are doesn’t mean we can’t see past those things and see he is our best and perhaps last hope to save this Republic.

For our babies and for our country the momma grizzlies are out there.

articulate, intelligent candidate ...polling in single digits, unable to ignite more than a handful of diehard voters who overlook his entire voting record because he is, well, he is, intelligent and articulate.

Is he clean as well?

That line of talk has been said about supporters of every candidate, maybe you could call them "worshipers" and score points that way....../s & *rolling eyes*

Please see my clearly obvious acronym tag line memo......

Probably won’t see this but...Drama much? Gimme a break. You’ve been here since 1999 and are bolting now because the person who runs this site and some people here don’t agree with you? Santorum is a decent fella. Gingrich is flawed, sure but you will NEVER have a perfect candidate no matter.

During your hiatus from FR reflect on this...Grow up.

And conservative Christian women believe in forgiveness too

Perry's speech yesterday spoke to that very issue, suggesting that no one is perfect, and that forgiveness is what makes people of faith stand out. He said this while endorsing Newt. It was powerful.

I see Palin and Cain backing him too. I wonder what the Odds are in Vegas vs. a Newt vs. Obama open debate ever occurring? I so want to see that happen. Go Newt! This Obama Bovine Scatology has got to end.
