The largest Muslim civil liberties group in the United States on Wednesday condemned Newt Gingrich for saying he would only hire Muslims to his administration if they renounced the use of Islam's Shariah law as a tool for U.S. government.
Calling Gingrich "one of the nation's worst promoters of anti-Muslim bigotry," the Council of American Islamic Relations suggested the Republican presidential candidate is a segregationist.

The more I hear about Newt’s positions, the more I like him.
If Muslims want to live under Shariah law they should immigrate to a country that honors Shariah law and that is NOT the USA. Newt is 100% correct here. Here the Constitution of the United States is the law of the land, not Shariah. Don’t like it? Don’t let the screen door hit you on the way out.
“It would depend entirely on whether they would commit in public to give up Shariah,” Gingrich said.
“A truly modern person who happened to worship Allah would not be a threat, a person who belonged to any kind of belief in Shariah, any effort to impose it on the rest of us, would be a mortal threat,” Gingrich told the crowd, adding that he’s “totally opposed” to Shariah law being applied in American courts and favors a federal law that “preempts” its use.
sharia is NOT separable from islame! They are parts of the same body.
I’m liking Newt more and more. Commonsense positions on most issues is a refreshing change from the mental pablum customarily coming out of DC.
There are still a number of issues on which I don’t agree with him (illegal immigration is one), but he’s certainly got the spine that many inside the beltway don’t have.
May as well be a campaign ad for Newt, this.
A little bit of advice for Muslims:
You want to live in this country? Fine, then you abide by our laws and legal system.
You don’t want to do that?
Then GTFO.
Why hire muslims under any circumstances?
They’re all liars and all believe in the divinity of the child preditor Mo-HAM-med.
I would ban Muslims completely because their religion says it is OK to lie — even under oath — if the lie “benefits Islam”.
That being the case, no oath by any Muslim can ever be taken at face value. No contract with a Muslim is worth the paper it is printed on.
They simply cannot be depended on to follow their oath and act in the best interests of the United States if there is any possibility that doing so would hurt what they perceive to be Islamic interests.
Sorry. That’s the way it is.

Didn’t Kennedy make it a point that Canon Law would not be a part of his presidency?
Without someone like Newt in charge, with political correctness on the move this will be the result in about 50 years:
The question was about a Muslim running for President - which would be different than a Muslim being part of his administration...

So moslems don't consider christianity a threat?
They could just move to Oklahoma where the Supreme Court has ruled that Oklahoma cannot prohibit Sharia.
10th Circuit Court not the Supreme Court, let’s hope the Supreme Count is as crazy as the 10th Circuit.
