'She makes me want to vomit': Former Marine( about) Gabbie Giffords
Mail Online ^ | 10th January 2012 | Staff

An elderly, former Marine who lost his wife of 54 years in the Tucson mass shootings expressed his anger at fellow victim and Congresswoman Gabbie Giffords.

George Morris, 77, was shot in the leg and back in the attack just over a year ago as he tried to protect his wife from the gunman. Dorothy Morris, 76, was killed after the couple had gone to the Safeway supermarket to quiz Ms Giffords' political opinions. Mr Morris, who describes himself as 'ultra-conservative', even refused a visit from President Obama while he recovered in hospital following the shootings in Arizona.

The couple had gone to the meet and greet at the grocery store to question Congresswoman's support of Obama's policies - including the health-care reform bill.

Mr Morris told the Arizona Republic newspaper his opinion of Ms Gifford and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly: 'Every time I see them on TV, it makes me want to vomit.'

The irony is the shooter was a total lib wack job, known to stalk Gifford, and was recently pissed at Gifford for not being liberal enough, as she had not voted for pelosi to be minority leader.

Milked the tragedy? I don’t know about that; his wife had her brains blown out. And FWIW, he’s not going to run.

Interesting how the comments to the article immediately grasp that this man is wrong to blame Giffords and her husband for a lack of security that day.

Yet people all over the country immediately accepted that Sarah Palin somehow was responsible! I read comments on Facebook by countless people demanding that Sarah should be indicted for murder.

And this man, who suffered a real loss and was shot himself that day, is so wrong?

The point I make is that others were killed but it seems Gifford’s tragedy is the only one of importance. Perhaps the man was too emotional over his wife’s death and his injuries but I tend to think differently considering his loss. I wish the best of health into the future for Congresswomen Giffords and am sorry people have to be exposed to deranged persons.

That’s some info you got there! I always knew that whenever the left places one of their own on a pedestal in the media, they are NOT as saintly as people read them to be.

I attended a meeting with my Congressman after the shooting, and I was surprised to see just one state trooper with the Congressman.

He should tell us how he really feels.

Seriously, it was a tragedy all around, but he lost his wife and has the right to say what he wants. Although he probably would have said it even if he and his wife hadn’t have been shot by the looks of it!

And where are the memorials to the lives lost and broken families due to illegal aliens? A Tucson tragedy every single day for years on end. :(

...”His anger was primarily directed at Mark Kelly, Giffords’ husband, who has milked the tragedy for all it’s worth as he gears up to run in her stead for Congress”...

Yes..I believe he is definitely using her tragedy for his own political gain. Can’t stand to watch him on TV.

“Ms Giffords has captivated the nation as she recovers.”

I am NOT particularly captivated. I doubt many conservatives are captivated.

Liberals like Giffords are the reason criminally insane people like Loughner are allowed to walk the streets. Liberals like Giffords also victimize citizens by taking away the right to bear arms. Giffords is a victim of her own wrongheaded liberal ideas of how to protect society from criminals & the criminally insane.

Yet another example of the "former Marine" meme in the media.

The man is 77 years old and went to a political rally. What does the fact that he was in the Marine Corps 30+ years ago have to do with anything?

It was the same when shuttle Challenger went down. Everyone else on board worked for years to earn a seat and all they wanted to talk about was the school teacher who won a lottery.

Had he used that Marine Corps training and brought a weapon to the event, he might have been able to protect himself, his wife and everyone else by ensuring that Loughner was the one to get a bullet to the brain.

My comment left at the website:

I wonder if even one percent of news following Americans knew who this Gabbie Giiffords and/or her "Astronaut" hubby were before the shooting. I imagine what bothers Mr. Morris, as it does me, is that the Democrat Party has used this event in which he was injured and his wife murdered for their partisan political purposes. This involves putting Ms. Giffords out there as sort of a ventriloquist's dummy and it is likely the the ventriloquists who are actually the ones who sicken Mr. Morris.

“Mr Morris is ‘ultra-conservative’ who refused President’s visit in hospital”

Gotta love that guy. God bless all.

I assume there's a time certain when a congressional seat is legally declared vacant and a special election is called to fill it with a functioning representative.

I also assume that in the Gifford case this time certain is long passed.

If she were a Republican basket case instead of a liberal Democrat one.......and her constituents were mired in a perpetually-unrepresented status, the long knives and the long hook of the Left and the media would be out to force her to resign.

Hopefully, Giffords has a new appreciation for the sanctity of life. She has a 100% favorable rating from NARAL.

This is as good of a time as any to point out the two week vacation Giffords and husband were recently given in the NC Mountains, apparently at NC taxpayers’ expense. The NC “western governor’s residence” was offered by our current embarrassment of a Dem governor, Bev Perdue, under the guise of “rehabilitation”. Local Democrat quoted as saying “Honestly, we were thrilled to be able to do that for her,”
