Argentine President Cristina Fernandez never had cancer despite being diagnosed with the disease last month and having her thyroid gland removed on January 4, her spokesman said on Saturday.

The government announced just after Christmas that the recently re-elected leader had thyroid cancer.

The operation to remove the gland went well, but when it was later analyzed it turned out to have never contained cancerous cells, said spokesman Alfredo Scoccimaro.

"The original diagnosis has been modified," he told a news conference. "The presence of cancer cells was discarded."

Fernandez was originally diagnosed with papillary carcinoma. …

She didn’t disestablish the socialized health care, so . . .

. . . basically she lucked out. And she’s now missing a thyroid gland.

IIRC, for the actual operation, she went to a private hospital, which may be why she got a more accurate analysis. Fidel Castro always used to go to Spain (or have Spanish doctors and medical teams come to him) for treatment. No state-run medical care for da boss!

Meanwhile, Chávez goes to Cuba to get his cancer treated. (Or so he says.)

“well, hope she learned something”

We all learned something; our cancer death ray satellite Chavez accused us of having isn’t working properly.

My mom was told “99%” she had perhaps the worst type of cancer there is, advanced, and she would die in 1 or 2 month.

It’s now 6 month and it hasn’t grown at all, they finally admit this month “there is a big chance it isn’t cancer”.

Problem is they were refusing to take her other medical problems seriously before because they said no point when she’s going to die so fast...

Turns out you don’t need a cancer ray to give cancer to Latin American authoritarians. The solution is much simpler. All you need are incompetent doctors.

The world must be terrifying place to people who believe in that nonsense; you’d think they’d be nicer to us if we had all of these “Dr. Evil” devices...

Very funny; you’re right.

I wonder how this will play in the Venezuelan press.

MY goodness!

I wonder if that excellent socialized health care has anything to do with this?

Or she is simply lying about her cancer to the media for political reasons like Chavez tried to do.

The Leftist cult of personality does not deal well with sick or infirm Dear Leaders and she does not have nearly the firm grip on power that Chavez has
