“My impression is that Rick and Newt like each other, and they’ll act as a team to destroy Romney’s pretense as a conservative.

As between Rick and Newt, ultimately I think Newt will come out on top, wt Rick as a potential VP ( he might be able tto bring over PA).

When push comes to shove, Newt is simple more competent— and I think the country wants that now— they want someone to take charge.

But, certainly, if it’s Rick- that would be fine with me.”

I see it much differently.

In my view, Santorum surged because there were many people who are not comfortable with the potential for Bad Newt to show up at any time.

Santorum has the advantage of being not Romney AND not Gingrich.

If he understands that, he’ll stick to his own path. That way he’ll pick up the Bachmann and Perry voters as well as the voters who were never all that comfortable supporting Gingrich.
