Mitt Romney edged Rick Santorum by a mere 8 votes in Tuesday's caucuses - a margin that amounted to a tie in the crucial opening act in the 2012 presidential race and propelled the newly reshaped contest to New Hampshire and beyond... The final count, as reported by Iowa GOP chairman Matt Strawn showed Romney winning 30,015 votes to Santorum's 30,007 votes, or 24.6 percent to 24.5 percent. Paul finished with 21.4 percent.

Santorum had a suprisingly strong showing, and Ron Paul, who pulled in 10% of the vote in the 2008 Iowa caucuses, surged to 21% in the 2012 Iowa caucuses.

The new pro-Gingrich superpac has its sights set on Romney in N.H.

Romney got essentially the same number of votes in 2012 as he did in 2008.

That shows the man has no traction and is not gaining support.

The pundits are saying that voters want someone who can beat Obama.

I say voters want someone who can beat Obama AND is a good conservative!

Romney pulls in 25.2% in 2008 Iowa Caucuses & Ron Paul pulls in 10% in 2008 Iowa caucuses:

RINOS and CINOS say that Romney’s numbers are consistent. They are consistent - consistently stagnant. But it appears that they are actually regressing.

Santorum and Paul are surging, though.

I think we've seen Paul's crest. Santorum has momentum and will gain substantially more supporters from Bachmann and Perry than Paul.

The story last night was Romney is not being accepted and Santorum is surging. Paul has fired his best shot already.

I saw Bill Kristol on Fox News last night lamenting that the low “conservative” turn-out indicated a dangerously low level of enthusiasm in a year when the conservatives should be greatly enthused to vote against Obama.

Now, why would that be Mr. “I’m a Republican and Hate Myself Because of It” Kristol? Could it be that conservative ideals are being ignored and you and the rest of the establishment are trying to shove Mittens down our throat?

I hope Perry, Huntsman and Bachmann drop out and their supporters flock to Santorum.

I hope Perry, Huntsman and Bachmann drop out and their supporters flock to Santorum.

Hintsman's supporters, few as they are, would probably go to Romney.

Romney, at best, is going sideways. At worst, down, not up.

That many Americans voted for Paul? That is downright scary!

I dunno. I think that Paul and Santorum would both go higher were Bachmann & Perry to drop out, although Santorum would get most of their combined 15%.

So, after four years of organizing, campaigning, debating—Romney gets about the same percentage of the Iowa vote as in 2008.

There’s a resounding “win” for ya! LOL!

Isn't it interesting how the moment that Newt responds to the slime thrown at him by everyone including Bachmann's Pomeranian, the media screams "Gingrich goes negative!"

Bachman, Perry and Huntsman are history...they just can't accept it. Paul has hit his peak. Mittens will win in NH due to the Massholes, but that may well be his peak.

Gingrich will become more aggressive now and while the media will scream about negativity, it is what they wanted all along and what they have been provoking all along.

The media is the propaganda arm of the DNC and their current mission is to forment hate and discontent in the right. Judging from the behavior on FR, the media has a target-rich envirionment of "principled conservatives" who will allow them to cut off their dicks with dignity rather than band together to defeat Obama and the RAT Party.

Don’t forget all the millions of dollars spent by Romney in Iowa, too.

And after all that, Romney actually loses ground.

Kristal is math challenged. The results show that 25% voted RINO and 75% voted conservative. The media spin this morning fails to point that out. The Merkin piple as becoming a nation of idiots.

The MSM’s job would be a whole lot more difficult if we didn’t have the GOP establishment to deal with. The establishment talks about the need for a big-tent party, and then they do the bait-and-switch and continually demand that we nominate the Ford’s, Doles, Bush Sr’s, McCain’s and Romney’s.

Of course it was pointed out many times their were fewer voters this time around . I have to think any-ones prior totals would be smaller. It says more about the voter interest and enthusiasm .
