Charlie Sheen was clearly the man of the year.
You'll recall that 2011 began with the oafish actor celebrating his own narcotic and sexual crapulence like a victorious gladiator working the crowds. He was egged on by a media with as much decency as the cons on the top tiers of the prison who chant "fresh fish" as the new inmates walk into general pop, their eyes stinging from delousing powder.
Sheen succeeded at turning his own debasement into a national pseudo-event by calling the very definition of losing "winning."
And that's what 2011 was all about: pretending to be winning while really losing. Sheen's Hollywood compatriots played the same game. Kim Kardashian, fresh from the "success" of her sex tape, parlayed her celebrity into a "classy" wedding that netted her millions and 72 days of marital bliss. Poor Lindsay Lohan, meanwhile, merely found victories in reduced jail time.

You know, I used to tell my kids “We don’t dress to call attention to ourselves.” All these idiots want attention and fame and it is so crass.
The people with “class” and I don’t mean money, I mean behaviorally and spiritually, are quiet, courageous, loyal and noble. Willing to suffer for the good of those they have been assigned to love.
This group of characteristics has no standing whatsoever in our current culture. Our current pop culture is A LIE, WRONG DEPRAVED AND NOT COOL.
The leftists and the media embedded therein fail to recognize that millions of Americans refuse to shell out a single penny on the "work" of studios, actors, actresses, entertainers and producers / directors of propagandist and agenda driven drivel.
When enough people quit renting, streaming and paying for films and music featuring their activist "investments" who promote lifestyles, language and behavior that are abhorhent to the average family, they will be able to comprehend the benefits of captialism they've despised and experience democrat-caused unemployment firsthand.
Films on our Netflix queque are quickly deleted once we detect the agendas we find repugnant once we start watching them.

Snip: It could be a case of the same-old same-olds, with fans growing tired of over-familiar characters and stories. It could be overcrowded weekends such as Thanksgiving, when studios loaded up on family films that cannibalized one another's audiences. It could be the economy, with fans growing more selective on how often they spend their spare cash to catch a movie, particularly at a time when so many films play in 3-D with premium ticket prices.
And it could be the times we live in, when audiences have so many gadgets to play with that they don't need to go to the movies as much as they once did.
Men became women and women became men. We as a people have no gratitude for what we have and how special the US is because we have no concept of how it is to grow up (maybe) in the Sudan, Kenya, Cairo, or the slums of Rio.
We are two generations from the men and women who saved the world and transformed it into a wonderland of prosperity. That world has now become one of gluttony. How did we fall so far so fast?
God help us if we were to actually have a war that meant destruction or survival. I'm not sure how many of those not serving now would show up!
Those who are trying to transform the US into something other than the last vestige of freedom in the world had better be careful what they ask for. Their wishes just might come true...and no one will like the end result.
