Perhaps the only thing saving them from their own fiscal ignorance, is their isolation; it is too difficult for the usual parasites, who would be more than happy to take advantage of their vacuous, historically ignorant ....ahem....social inclusiveness, to migrate there.
New Zealand more or less says “Do NOT send us your poor, your sick, your huddled masses yearning to breath free. Send us your healthy, affluent, educated, yearning to escape the huddled masses.”
Iceland and Japan have very restrictive immigration policies for “cultural” (read: racial) reasons. New Zealand welcomes Asians who are well educated and fluent in English, as well as similarly situated Americans. I wouldn’t mind living in a smug, liberal state like Massachusetts or Minnesota, if it had a future. Our immigration policies doom both withing a couple of generations. I hate to say it, but even though my wife and I could qualify for immigration to New Zealand, I do not believe my daughter and her family could.
